A Presidential Welcome!

Dear Friends,

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Smith College Club of Cambridge and its broad range of activities for the 1999-2000 year.

When Missy Daniel recently relocated to Washington, D.C., the Nominating Committee asked me to assume her responsibilities as Club President.  Because we have such a strong Board of Directors and such an interesting and involved membership, it did not take much persuasion on its part.

Each year, the Board of Directors tries to plan an array of events designed to appeal to the varied interests of all Smith alumnae who live in Cambridge, Somerville and Watertown. We think that each of you will find at least some activities that you will want to attend or support.  I encourage each of you to participate in our meetings and to get in touch with our committee chairs if you'd like more information about their activities.  It's easy and fun to get involved and to find new ways of connecting with Smith College, your classmates, and other alumnae.

As the Club's first newsletter informed you, the Program, Wine Tasting and Young Alumnae Committees have been hard at work putting together this year's program, scholarship benefit and networking activities. While not all of the program topics, dates and locations have been confirmed as this Directory goes to press, updates will be sent to each of our paid members during the course of the year.  Although the first mailing of each year is sent to all alumnae in our Club's area, all further mailings will go only to those who have paid their dues for the year.  I encourage each of you to do so and to take part in the Club's activities. It is your involvement that maintains the vitality of the Smith College Club of Cambridge.

I know that I speak for the entire Board in inviting you to join us during the course of this milestone year.  We look forward to seeing you at Club events.
