Earth Space Science Information

Course Description

Earth Science is a comprehensive course that examines the composition, processes, environments and features of our planet. The course is designed to give students a broad background introduction to such fields as geology, meteorology, astronomy, oceanography, etc. as well as assistance in becoming a more scientifically aware citizen. It will also include laboratory investigations of selected topics in the content.

Required materials
· Textbook: Earth Science, (1999) Feather and Snyder, Glencoe/McGraw-Hill Company, 1999.
· Pencils, pen and colored pencils
· Notebook to store notes, handouts and assignments (preferably 3 ring type)
· Students are responsible for all materials presented in class as there may be supplemental material not found in textbook.

Evaluations (Grades)

Examinations (tests), quizzes, homework assignments, laboratory investigations, participation, and mini-research papers and/or mini-projects will determine evaluation (Grades).

Discipline and Class Rules

My philosophy of discipline is simple. I expect all students to exhibit self-discipline and respect for themselves and others.
· Students have a right to learn. Teachers have a right to teach.
· No handling or consumption of food or drink in classroom.
· You are tardy if you are not in the classroom when the bell rings.
· You are expected to follow the conduct guidelines found in the Apopka High School and Orange County student handbooks.

Attendance

You are responsible for all material presented in class. Exams, quizzes, labs and homework often include questions on material presented only in class, so performance on these indirectly reflects attendance.
