My Music |
Oh man, I love music. I own over a hundred cds (I know that doesn't seem like much, but when you're poor like me, it's quite an accomplishment) and I listen to music all the time. I'm that kid you see walking to class with a discman. I also love mp3s. Here are some of my favs and some great sites about them...
No Doubt
And this... as we all know... is Gwen. I love the band, and I love her. I've had their second CD for quite awhile, and I got the new one soon after it was released. And then I remembered why I love this band so much. They are incredible. And I have to agree with all the guys out there: Gwen is hot. |
Veruca Salt
I saw Veruca Salt at a concert at Tech. They opened for Filter. And IMHO, Filter should've been opening for them! They are so great... I had never listened to them, but since I've bought one CD and would love more. |
Jewel
I love Jewel's music. She is someone I really respect. She writes her own stuff and plays her own instruments. You have to admire that! |
The official JEWEL website A really great website. My fav of the ones I've seen. Anything you could want to know about Jewel is here. Great site!
Jewel Kilcher on the World Wide Web This place has so so *so* many Jewel websites. I figure I could sit here and put all kinds of sites here, but it's easier to just direct you a huge list of great sites. (Same with Pink Floyd)
Pink Floyd
Definitely one of the best bands ever! I love Pink Floyd... I recently discovered them, actually. Over the summer my friend and I made a road trip to Wisconsin and hung out with some people who were *obsessed* with the band. I had never really listened to them, but left with a soft place in my heart for them! Here are some great places I found about them: |
PINK FLOYD This site is really good... lots of goodies...
Rayman's Pink Floyd Home Page Oh this site is wonderful... a lot of interesting things. Screen savers, desktop themes... and check out the tattoos! If you love Pink Floyd, be sure to check out the links page this guy has. So many links.... so little time!!
Nirvana
I have always loved Nirvana and their music. I own every cd they released in the US, plus seven imports. I would have more, but they're so expensive! That's not counting the 6 cds in the extremely rare boxed set that I own, Into the Black. |
[The Internet Nirvana Fan Club] This is definitely the best Nirvana site I have even seen. I was very impressed with this site!! There is just so much info here! Plus a newsletter that you can subscribe to.
NIRVANA DGC Records Also a great site... a must see for fans.
Peace, Love, Empathy, The Nirvana Homepage Wow... there are so many great sites out there! This place is very good... especially if you play guitar. There are so many tabs here. Also, a lot of good articles/interviews.
Stabbing Westward
Oh, what a great band! I haven't been a huge fan for *too* long, but I heard them once and fell in love! Great sound, great lyrics, great voice... how can you *not* like this band? |
STABBING WESTWARD A pretty good site, in my opinion. There aren't that many Stabbing Westward sites out there.
Stabbing Westward Another good site. Home of the Stabbing Westward mailing list.
Ani DiFranco
I just went and heard Ani for the first time on Oct. 12, here at Tech. She played a concert here. I had never even heard of her, but a friend down the hall (thanks, girl!) informed me that she would be playing here. Josh was interested, and I'm open to new things, so I thought, "What the hell?" and went. After the very ... interesting... opening band, I was a bit skeptical. But the moment Ani strummed her guitar I fell in love. She is *wonderful*. I am now a definite fan, and as soon as I can round up some cash I'm buying a cd! So if you've never experienced Ani, I very strongly suggest it. Here are some awesome Ani sites: |
The Ani DiFranco Home Page A good starting point for Ani fans.
Another Ani DiFranco Page October 1999 A very good site (in my opinion) created by a big fan
Ani DiFranco Tab This is for all you guitar players out there. Hopefully, when I get some lessons and learn how to play, I'll be able to play some of her stuff.
Those are just a few of my favorite artists. Other musical acts I enjoy: Queen, George Thourogood, Rob Zombie, Pearl Jam, Limp Bizkit, NIN, Green Day, Offspring, Cake... I could go on forever. Music is great.
Now, some music I hate is every one of those clean cut "boy bands". You know what I'm talking about. Backstreet Boys, In Sync, all of them. They all sound the same! But that's not the main reason I dislike them. They don't write their own music *or* lyrics. They don't even play their own instruments! They're fabricated by some big company, chosen mainly because of their clean cut "good" looks, and they don't have anything to say for themselves! Can we say New Kids on the Block all over again? Bleh!
Oh yeah, and all those 16 year old little girls... they disgust me. All they are are sex symbols, and they seem ok with that. And again, the main reason is that they don't do any of their own stuff. No instruments, no lyric writing, nothing. Yuck. How can they respect themselves?
Anyway..... I think I'm done ranting now.
