Cultivating Love
through emotional transmutation
Emotion
control is necessary:
What are emotions?
Ask group. Let them tell some of their emotions and write them on
the board.
We have both positive and negative emotions.
Are all these emotions the same? Which one you don't like and
why?
Which emotions do you like and why? Make two lists of negative
and positive emotions.
What are the effects of these emotions, their impacts in your
life. Let each one tell about one positive and one negative
emotion and they impact their life.
Show how Yoga is classifiying emotions, higher emotions are the
one generating more sublte thinking. Negative emotions engender
crude thoughts, material C thoughts. Feelings and ideation always
come together. The highest emotion is devotion because love for
the Supreme Entity leads to identification with the Supreme
Entity. Conclude with the importance of emotion control to avoid
negative emotions and generate positive one.
Kiirtan
is an effective way of emotion control:
It transmutes lower emotions into Love:
Kiirtan
is a dance with the repetition of the mantra: Baba Nam Kevalam.
When we do kiirtan, we
have to feel "I love you, Supreme Entity", "I
surrender to you", even though the original emotion is
negative, or different, we have to stop that feeling to adopt
another higher one, that is the feeling of universal love. This
is an emotional meditation, that teaches us how to channelize our
emotional energy into the most potent, constructive and spiritual
of emotion.
Kiirtan is different from meditation which starts with the
ideation on the Supreme Entity, which will generate in time,
other positive and elevetated feelings. Kiirtan works first with
the feelings and ideation will follow.
It uses Lalita marmika dance to generate a stronger feeling of
love.
Movements or mudras
have a strong influence on the mind.
Mudra
game: let them take
different positions. For exemple show them the OK mudra, the
thumb down, hungry, money, ready for work, I win (one arm up),
kiirtan (arms up), Namaskar, Guru Puja. Each time ask for
feedback. What feelings or thoughts came. Which pose do you
prefer or hate, and why?
Conclude that movements influence our mind. Give other exemples:
What do you do when depressed, angry? Some people step on the
ground, some other start dancing and it feels better. When we
want to make peace with someone, we say something nice and shake
hands. The pilot uses the OK mudra to give himself confidence
fefore the race. The christians use the cross sign as a reminder
of Jesus. Which movements makes you feel better? Which one make
you feel worst?
Each mudra express and transmit a mental vibration. Some are
negative, like the thumb down whose crude energy exite lower
propensities like cruelty, etc. Some are positive, like the
kiirtan mudra whose subtle energy exite higher propensities like
surrender and love.
So we should avoid taking negative mudras even if they are
destined to other people, because we will be affected by them. To
the contrary, we have to use positive mudras as much as possible.
By testing the effects of different movements on their own minds,
yogis devised some set of mudras that anyone can use for their
spiritual, mental and physical developement and healing.
Lalita marmika is one of these hyper positive mudras developed by
the yogis to accelerate spiritual growth by increasing the
feeling of surrender and love for the Supreme.
Its
mantra Baba Nam Kevalam strenghtens that love:
The singing of Baba
Nam Kevalam also contributes to strenghten that devotion.
"Love is all there is" is the meaning. Only the
experience of the Supreme. I only want you, and you only. Are
other possible ideations.
Singing the mantra with pleasing subtle melodies, will also
contribute to the heart opening of the heart..
Collective dancing and singing with furthermore amplifiy the
effect of kiirtan by synergy.
