The Haiku is an oriental form of poetry - hence this lovely background. The beautiful imagery created by Haikus must be accomplished within very strict limitations. A Haiku consists of just three short lines with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second line, and another five syllables in the third line. My students began their journey into poetry attempting to create Haikus that were as beautiful as they were technically correct. They learned a new appreciation for poets and poetry. Here is a small collection of some of the works created by the poets of English One.
