Son of Lord and Lady Capulet, his family's enemy. Romeo sneeks back into the Capulet house after the party, woos Juliet, and vows to marryMontague, Romeo, the sole heir to the Montague fortune is depressed over being dumped by his girlfriend, Rosaline. He forgets all about "that name and that name's woe" as soon as he sees Juliet. He falls in love with Juliet before he realizes that she is a her. He keeps their relationship a secrect, but they rush into marriage. Tybalt, Juliet's cousin, wants to kill Romeo for attending the Capulet party, but Romeo won't fight him. So, Tybalt and Romeo's best friend, Mercutio, fight. Mercutio is killed and Romeo kills Tybalt in revenge. He is exiled from Verona and flees to Mantua after spending his wedding night with Juliet. He does not hear of the Friar's plan to fake Juliet's death and believes that she is really dead. He returns to Mantua, goes to the tomb, where Paris tries to arrest him. He kills Paris, lies next to Juliet in the tomb, and drinks poison. Romeo's biggest problem is that he rushes into everything. If he had waited just a few minutes more before drinking the poison, Juliet would have woken up and they would have been together forever. |
