Nana was perhaps the most important person in my life when I was growing up. I have done my best to remember the stories she always told us, and have found a few that I wrote down while she was with us, to share them with you. Nana loved to tell her stories, and I know she would like to have people remember them. *S* Please read on...

"In the first row (children sitting on the ground) it's Aunt Emma (Emma Adelaide - Nana's sister), Rod (Roderick - Nana's cousin), and Nana (Florence). The man sitting with baby is my grandfather (Alexander Daniel) holding Nana's baby brother (Alexander Daniel, Jr.). The tall woman in white next to him is my grandmother, Clara Adelaide. In the back row are Nana's Uncle Rod (Roderick), her Aunt Effie (I'm not sure of her correct name - I do remember her having parakeets...the only person I remember with birds when I was very young), and their daughter, Maybelle. They lived right across the driveway from my grandparents. I remember a huge hill behind their house - wonderful for rolling down as a child - and a marvelous old barn I used to play "house" in with bales of hay for chairs and beds. The date was the summer of 1912. Uncle Alex was born in 1911, and he is about one year old; Nana is about 7 and Emma is about 15." Notes from Debbie's mother, June 21, 1998.
