Stocking Stealing SisterCopyright © 1997 Property of Deborah K. Fletcher for Florence MacLennan Brown. All rights reserved. When I was in high school, I had an after-school job taking care of an old woman who lived nearby. This meant that I was earning money of my own. My sister, eight years older, was working in the city, but still living at home. Using my own money, I loved to buy silk stockings. They were the height of luxury for a teenage girl. My sister used to get up early in the morning and steal my silk stockings right out of my drawer. I don't think I ever quite forgave her for that.
