HTML:
A simple, universal language used to create web pages.
A Series of TAGS that tell the browser how to display the web page.
Hello! Thanks for attending my class.
TAG:
A word or abbreviation enclosed by < angle brackets >.

Tags come in pairs.
One to start the tag instruction. One to end the tag instruction.
The slash / distinguishes the closing tag from the opening tag.

<html> <head> <title> HELLO </title> </head> <body> <b> :-) </b> </body> </html>

ATTRIBUTES:
Additional information placed within the TAG that defines the tag's appearance.

<body bgcolor=color text=color>

C-3PO: "Hang in tight. You've got to come back. You wouldn't want my life to be boring, would you?"

How to get started. . .

  1. The easiest way to learn HTML is by studying the html code from other web pages.

You can get the HTML code for a web page by
    1. Clicking View on the Menu Bar of your browser and
    2. Clicking on Source.

  2. Use the web. There are sites that are good sources of information on html and web page design.
  3. Work on your site. Play and experiment. Keep it simple.
  4. Set the goals for your site. Is the goal to entertain? Or to provide information, graphics, or some service?
  5. Testing is the most important phase. Test all your pages.
  6. Publish your site.
  7. Continuously refine your site.
  8. Keep links to other sites up-to-date and accurate. Check on a regular basis.
