Meme This page is part of the meme matrix memeplex* (pron. `meem') A contagious information pattern that replicates by parasitically infecting human minds and altering their behaviour, causing them to propagate the pattern. (Term coined by Dawkins, by analogy with "gene"in 1976) Individual slogans, catch-phrases, melodies, icons, inventions, and fashions are typical memes. An idea or information pattern is not a meme until it causes someone to replicate it, to repeat it to someone else. All transmitted knowledge is memetic. (Wheelis, quoted in Hofstadter.)(pron. 'meem') The Second order of Sentient lifeform on this planet. Lives via another sentient who acts as the host. It cannot presently survive on it's own and requires at present, Humeans to ensure its survival. It is however successfully creating a new host system by using Humeans to manufacture and create a foundation of digital incubationary catalysts. Memetics is the study of ideas and concepts viewed as "living" organisms, capable of reproduction and evolution in an "Ideosphere" (similar to the Biosphere) consisting of the collective of human minds. Memes reproduce by spreading to new hosts, who will spread them further (typical examples are jokes, catchphrases or political ideas and religeous dogma). The growing field of memetic study is being watched very closely as, the further memes are researched, the more they appear to exclude human free will making the research an extremely controversial one. Their struggle for survival is not an easy one, as the belief space (the space in a persons reality tunnels) offer the meme a finite area to spread sufficiently to ensure its existence. Because of the nature of Humean, only a limited number of memes can exist within an individuals ideosphere; there fore we can conclude to the possibility that memes evolve in competition to each other within the belief space of individuals and societies. Mutual co-existence was probably developed early on as Humean unconsciously saw the bait that was created by the meme and also the contagion created by the memetic hook. This has become a major part of the meme-complex and was the singular most important facet of memetic evolution that in fact led to their discovery. Known as the reward co-meme this facet instigates the idea of salvation as the bait this is the reward that the meme offers for the exchange in viral dissemination. The hook is the persons willingness to spread the word thereby allowing the meme to inhabit another part of the ideosphere. Memeticides are anti-memes used in the context of attacking a memetic infection that is viewed as unwholesome to the evolution of Humean. One such meme would probably consist of ideas that where used to harm another part of the ideosphere incorporating insidious individual or societal ideologies. Memeoids are also another part of the ideosphere to be watched very closely as they are the manifestation of the most fundamental of all memes. Memeoids are a person "whose behaviour is so strongly influenced by a meme that their own survival becomes inconsequential in their own minds." (Such as: Kamikazes, Shiite terrorists, any military personnel). There is no escaping our co-existence now that we aware of memes, instead we should seek to understand each other and move forward to a more co-habitual existence taking with us those memes that are willing to share the ideals of universal evolution. This involves not the annihilation of negative memetic structures but the analisations of them and there by-products, using this information to understand the nature of universal creation as it inevitably produces both of the nescassery dualities required for existence. That of creation and destruction. It has been suggested that the first meme manifestation was the verb "to be" and its derivatives, this will be viewed increasingly, as the memetic beginnings of meme evolution and memeticists' will seek to elucidate on the nature of both our own consciousness and the present understanding of the second order.
