| Since the web is global I thought some of you might be interested in where we live and do our farming here on this "third rock from the sun". We are the east central part of the USA in the state of Indiana, county of Shelby just outside the town of Shelbyville. - If you look at the segment of the official Indiana state highway map I have below you will see a red star just south-east of Shelbyville. That is our farm. Yes folks the state thought our farm is important enough to mark it on the map. Actually it indicates that Shelbyville is on the milage chart but they just happen to put the star smack on top of the farm. - The bit of orange at the top left corner is a tiny corner of Indianapolis galloping rapidly our direction. not much I can do about that, would build a giant fence if I could. If you look to the east (right) just south of St.Rd.244 you will see the village of Moscow (pronounced at the end like coe not cow). There we have a 1830's house (was a store), a concrete block auto service garage built in 1934 and 17 acres of great woods, rocks and Flatrock River, all of which are filled with history, some general, a great deal of it is the history of my fathers family. The 17 acres is crossed by a wooden covered bridge (shown on my wood-lots page). The dummy bureaucrats wanted some years ago to destroy it all for a large reservoir but their funding got cut. (smirk, chuckle) I hope it stays that way. |
