Earthquake and Volcanic Science

Your task: attempt to locate as many of the Earth's volcanos and earthquakes as you can, and develop a thorough impression of the activity beneath the earth's surface and make inferences from this.

What we are trying to do: (Aim)
To investigate the relationship between earthquakes and volcanoes, and see if any patterns emerge.

Here's what to do: (Procedure)

  1. Get a photocopy of the map that is shown above - 1 for each person in your group.

  2. Carry out internet searches to find the location of VOLCANOES.

  3. Search the internet to find the location of EARTHQUAKES.

  4. Plot your findings on your map using little crosses for quakes and circles for volcanoes.

  5. After gaining as many reference points as possible, use pencil to link together the most obvious lines of volcanoes and earthquakes.
