Demon
Cassidy Melczak
I live with a demon
She haunts me every day
Her claws gleam with new blood
Cut from an innocent prey
The night is still, dark, quiet
She will stalk all she can see
She slides onto her perch
Her eyes filled with demonic glee
She curls up and lays
But she is not asleep
Her eyes remain open
Her stare makes my skin creep
Suddenly she leaps up
Flashes across the room
Teeth gnash across the wing
Claws shadowed by dark gloom
The angel scratches her wings
And she screams in pain
Wings torn the angel falls
Angel’s death was very plain
The huntress slides away
The bodies lie fallen
The demon slides back home
Where fire consumes all in
Fire burns eternally
Hell burns blazing hot
Hell’s furnace heats the house
But searing it is not
She curls in the heat
Fire licking up at her
The demon is happy
That can be, I see for sure
Spotted many colors
A thick fur covers her hide
Her expression is evil
Of something that has died
Her black, dark as night
Orange burns like fire
While white with mock purity
The demon flies higher
From above she flies down
She lands without a sound
"Meow" she says aloud
I look at her on the ground
The demon is my cat
Whom I must keep at bay
I live with a demon
She haunts me every day
This is my all-time favorite poem I wrote, I just love it. My calico cat named Cleocatra, actually does many of these things we have a stuffed angel hanging on a wall. She shredded its wing. She always sleeps under our wood burner whenever it's on full blast. She has a tendency to hunt everything including me, so I hunt her back, its only fair
