Dragon’s Honor

Cassidy Melczak

Dragons gentle, kind and bold
Dragons ancient, mysterious and old
Dragons are now a dying breed
To their message we should take heed
"We were once an honorable race,
But now we are cast down in disgrace
We achieved the pinnacle of perfection
And now we live at the bottom of rejection
Dragons held in a far off land
Where a ruler led with a just hand
Karak ruled with propose and grace
Jarron, his brother, tried to take his place
Jarron was Karak’s evil twin
They were the only left of kin
One time while Karak was out away
Jarron decided it was time to play
Jarron disguised took Karak’s reign
And everyone believed Jarron’s feign
When Karak returned, he was very surprised
That everyone fell for Jarron’s disguise
When Jarron found that Karak was back
Jarron planned a full-scale attack
Jarron said that Karak was a traitor
That he planned to kill him sooner or later
Jarron had his story straight
But the people found the truth too late
They killed Jarron, whom they did not like
And thrust his head on a bloody pike
Instead of killing Jarron as they had planned
They killed Karak, and left Jarron the land
Karak was gone, Jarron in charge
The hero was lost, criminal at large
With Karak gone, Jarron was next in line
The world was his, not yours nor mine
Jarron changed what the world believed
Showing them hate, lust, but mostly greed
Dragons fell into the dark abyss
Jarron laughed with a serpentine hiss.
Soon Drakor was an evil place
They solved their problems with club and mace."
Alas, their problems we can see
But in them reflect you and me
Drakor has long since sealed its fate
But for us it is not yet too late
From this lesson you should learn
Without honor we would crash and burn
We can still all change our ways
It hurts now, but in the long run it pays
It is time to leave good bye my friend
But I assure you this is not the end

This is the second poem I wrote, I recited it for a talent show and people politely clapped. I was under the impression I was good. Because of that I wrote all these poems.I really couldn't think of anything to put for a background I guess you will have to live with it.
