Simple Things

Cassidy Melczak

Wind chimes ring out clear
Dispelling demons, and all fear
Simple wishes always come true
Childhood things you soon outgrow

Whenever you take a chance to dream
You see things are not as they seem
But images the world wants to see
As truth is as relative as it can be

Mental magics can harm and heal
While your innocence they work to steal
Your soul corrupts dark and stained
Put to rest from the past so pained

Simple things the work the best
Unless by cruelty they are put to rest
Alone slowly things begin to break
Testing your limits, pushing all you can take

I wrote this because of the title. Simple things meant something to me but I didn’t know what, so I wrote this to try and find out. Now I can’t even remember what it meant in the first place, but this wasn’t exactly it.
