Still I Waited
Cassidy Melczak
When I was young I used to play with stones
Play with many among the field
The stones were plain and many
I had plenty of time to choose
So I waited...
I saw a stone I wanted very much
The stone was smooth and warm
I thought to myself
Am I ready?
I did not know, so I waited
The stone smoothed and shone
I knew I was ready
Then I said aloud
Is this the stone I want?
I did not know, so I waited
The stone began to change
I knew it was the stone I wanted
Then I pondered
Do I deserve the stone?
I did not know, so I waited
The stone became a diamond
Then I knew I do not deserve it
Maybe soon I will be worth
Until then I will wait
I do not know, so still I am waiting
