I met Bishop Milan Chautur of Kosice, Slovakia recently in Pittsburgh. The Greek Catholic church in Konus where my grandfather was born is a member of his diocese.
My father taught Melkite Catholic Bishop Nicholas Samra when he was a student at Pope Pius X High School in Passaic, New Jersey. We developed a friendship when he was pastor at Saint Ann's Church in West Paterson.
I had the opportunity to talk with Prime-Bishop John Swantek of the Polish National Catholic Church before and after a presentation that I gave to priests of the Central Diocese Clergy Conference, Clare Mount Franciscan/Felician Retreat House, Mt. Arlington, New Jersey.
Metropolitan Nicholas Smisko is the bishop of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Diocese of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He was one of two Orthodox hierarchs attending the 75th Anniversary of the Byzantine-Ruthenian Catholic Church in Pittsburgh.
