Sitting in a small restaurant
Drinking mint tea
Pondering the projects
I’d set out to finish
stagnant and
sickeningly familiar.
Exhausted from effort,
incapable of acting;
Bored of simply sitting,
guilty for waiting.
The waitress came, taking my money
As I left later, she didn’t return, and
I realized . . .
I get no change.
