Part 1:
Sedona: One of the most beautiful and magical places God ever created. Settlers began to enter the Verde Valleys in Arizona, on the outskirts of Sedona in 1865. Repeated attacks from the Apache Indians caused the government to form Fort Verde, where the army troops begun their guest to ‘secure’ the lands for the white settlers.
Carl Schnebly started their first hotel in Sedona in 1902, opening his house to travellers. When the post office was established the town used his hotel for it’s location. The town needed a name to establish the post office and the people chose Sedona, the name of Schnebly’s wife. In 1914, Schnebly helped build the only continuous wagon road from Sedona through the Canyons to Flagstaff, some 30 miles away. Flagstaff was rapidly developing as a major town for sheep and cattle ranching. Where construction of the railroad from Albuquerque to California was set up in 1880. It was definitely a Wild West town. Business men had begun regular stage coach runs to the Grand Canyon, now a two hour drive from Flagstaff, and the tourism Industry began.
In the 1970;s Sedona began to attract New Age’s, psychics UFO’s enthusiasts, Artists, people from all walks of life, who learned of its reputation as a Vortex site. There are about five main Vortex sites located through out Sedona. They generate powerful spiritual energy and serve a variety of uses. Such as helping to meditate, healing and vision enhancement. The rocks and mountains are a deep red and have formed definite images. The energy radiating from these natural structures is inspiring. Walking through the canyons or sites for those who are sensitive enough, the Ancient Native spirits give you visions on their experiences on that particular site.
Being in Sedona changes you for the better, whether your ready or not. Every one has a tale on how they came here. Nobody comes to Sedona by chance, you’re brought here. And once here , you’re ‘rewired’ as I describe it to the energy where your natural God given ‘senses’ are heightened and tuned. I came from New Zealand to learn about the Indians and made contact with Hopi family where the father is a Medicine Man and have learned a great deal from them. I try to use some of the knowledge and wisdom to better myself and to understand my own spiritual gifts. Every day I awaken in awe of Sedona and her beauty. Threes a saying here ‘God made the Grand Canyon, but he lives in Sedona!
