Check out the country's Slide Show (on the right of Lonely Planet) if available. Sometimes there are separate shows for cities within a country.

The Culturegram is GREAT! - type in specific names of items just as jeepney for the Philippines. Don't forget to include unique games like buzkashi in Afghanistan.
