Bob's Bugs

It was sunny, so Bob decided asked his mother if he could go to the beach.

His mother gave him some money to by a sandwich for lunch, and off he went.

Bob went in for a swim.

As he dried himself with his towel, he felt hungry.

A little invisible bug flew in his ear.

The bug whispered, "spend the money that you've got for lunch on lollies"

Bob liked lollies, but he thought about what his mother said, that he should spend to money on a sandwich, because it will keep him healthy.

But the bug whispered "sandwiches are boring, but lollies are fun"

Bob didn't realize that it is the bug talking, he thought it was just him, thinking.

Bob ran up to the shop, and bought a bag of lollies with the money.

Bob didn't realize it, but his bug got bigger, every time he took it's advice.

Bob started felt sick, because had eaten too many lollies, and realized that his mother was right. So he thought, "in future I'll listen to what my mother says". When he did this he pushed the bug out of his ear without realizing it.

When he got home, his mother asked him what he had for lunch.

Bob didn't know what to say. While he was thinking another bug flew in his ear.

This new bug whispered "tell your mother a lie, otherwise you'll get into trouble".

Bob didn't think it would matter if he lied, so he did, and his new bug, like the last one, grew bigger.

When he went to school, his friend was saying how fantastic his holiday was overseas. Bob wished he had gone somewhere special, like his friend did.

His bug whispered in his ear "tell him you went flying in a jet plane"

Bob wanted to be popular, so he told them what the bug said. His friends thought he was fantastic.

The Bob's new bug grew bigger again.

The bug became so big that Bob found it difficult to tell the truth about anything.

His best friend asked his mother "how did Bob get to travel in jet plane?"

She said "what jet plane?"

Bob got in trouble from his mother, for telling a lie.

His best friend didn't trust Bob anymore, and had no friends.

Bob was lonely.

Bob started to think, "when you lie, you loose your friends, and you get in trouble."

Bob thought, "I'll never lie again". His big bug started to shrink.

Bob apologized to his friends, and his mother.

The bug shrunk again and flew away.

Bob's friend told him "don't listen to those nasty bugs in the future, they only get you into trouble".

Bob agreed, and they went of to play.
