The Dog Speaks dedicated to Mr. Jerry, always A God is said to be the creator of infinity It is a God's imagination which fuels a people's wonderment Wonderment of the beauty of existence and all its treasures We speak of so many bad things, we forget how beautiful it is to simply be alive We are people who have received the greatest gift Don't you think so? I know you have seen the sun set I know you have seen the grass grow I know you have heard a baby's first cry as it enters this world I know you have seen the smile of your first love I know you have stood on top of a mountain and screamed your name into the heavens If you've haven't I know you've wanted to You have seen technology advance to a level you never wouldn't have dreamed of I know you have seen this world, seen the deep blue oceans You've traveled across the roads Became one with the sky as you soared so high I know you've seen so much done so much I also know you were born to a world that doesn't respect the color of your skin No matter the color of your skin I know you've seen pain I know you've seen your people kill themselves for nothing You've seen wars justified You've seen corruption justified You've seen lack of respect justified You've seen homelessness You've seen famine and starvation You've seen natural disasters In the same world with all the beautiful things What is the biggest lesson you have learned from your experiences? I'll give you some time to think about that Time's up As many names as I've called you As many names as you've been called There is one name one title you can't shake and that is... SURVIVOR Throughout the challenges and the pain you've survived Which is exactly what I've expected of you You did not disappoint me even if you think I've disappointed you Maybe I thought I needed to tell you I still care That I'm still watching over you That it isn't all in vain Maybe you needed to hear that after thinking I don't listen to you when you speak to me You know that this world is in your hands and is what you make it Maybe it isn't as bad as it seems if you dream Maybe it isn't as bad as it seems if you can roll with the punches I know you can roll with the punches 'cause I've punched you Maybe to teach you a lesson Maybe to make you understand how precious your gift really is Maybe there are other maybes Maybe not
Once More (the Signature) Once more you say you love me cause I'm your child I'm protected by your power Gave everything in my world to you What did you do?... Once more you made me work harder for you I'm the product of 2 that became 1 Vision of wisdom back from day 1 I'm a mere smear on this sphere not put here to live in fear Now is that clear? Got many ways to dare me, scare me, and ensnare me Until you bury me Once more I speak the word Origination Once more you don't seem to know what I'm saying Once more you go back into your grind Once more I speak my mind Once more I'm given lies which is truth is disguise Trying to figure out why Once more I clean my plate of problems when I've had my fill Once more I look at my plate and there they are still Born with 2 strikes in this game Once more you look at me, now you know my claim to fame Black for life, nigger for eternity Now do you know me? I'm just one of many in the image Trying to get past the mind of scrimmage I'm part of an equation which still hasn't been solved X-the unknown X-the unloved How can you be unknown when you are the 1st known? How can you be unloved when you are the 1st lover? 1st mother, 1st brother, 1st discoverer Now you're just the other and not the 1 Once more I'm told I've played the game of life since my arrival What I've truly played is the game called survival How to see the next day, hoping my prayers are answered How to see the future while avoiding the sins of the past I'm in the middle of it all Once more I speak of the inborn, inbred, hatred Manifested over thousands of years of tears You teach your children to hate me yet they don't even know me Don't even know the contributions of the originators' children Don't even know what hate is, they only know what they've been told NIGGER BAD and nothing else I can't even take you seriously cause you're even more stupid than I'm supposed to be If I underestimate you, you can slay me So I have to be the one you can't catch K to the third power rises and shines As my people are lynched once again one more time Once more I cry 'cause I thought I was free Like I could be free in this monopoly Which respects big business over humanity I read the situation just like a book And God knows I don't want to see the movie Once more my people answer your questions of hate People like the Panthers, Malcolm X and MLK Once more I see my brothers who live life in the fast lane Playing ghetto games with dice in their fists Hanging out all day drinking that 40 oz. malt liquor piss They fall into the program like zombies killing each other Which satisfies the monopoly The program implies that when my people make a statement They destroy damn near everything they created The monopoly laughs as the destruction grows 'Cause all they have to say is "look at those silly negroes" Or silly Jews, silly Koreans or silly Mexicans, etc. etc. and so on You may ask why (do) I say it that way... 'cause race on race destruction isn't just a black thing Hate goes beyond skin, religion and culture Hate even goes beyond itself and all boundaries And that, my friends, is the true tragedy. With all that said, here we go on Once More about the author, the 1, brother Angelleo - Blackspanic child, born in late July of the turbulent year 1968 Born to be the future of a world that's forever in the past Which means before I took my first step I'd already fallen on my ass Once more I get up 'cause there are lessons to be learned in this the real As the World Turns I wasn't into the bullshit, never got arrested, Never had to sell, never had to take... I'm not doing my words to be saved from the streets As far as beliefs, I throw up the NR 'Cause if I was into religion I would call my religion ANGELISM That's right, the temple, the knowledge, the power Truly comes from one's self and nowhere else Perhaps you know me because of my stories told Perhaps you know me because I carry a packed rose Bet you think the lyrical gymnast is a Black Supremacist But get this, I'm a Human Supremacist Those who know the time can look past the skin face 'Cause they know damn well that we're all in the same race I snap on those who can't get it through their heads Once More You know those with the fucked up mental doors I have more things to say but other times to say them so I will cease for now But I hope I've signed my name across your mind 'Cause this was the signature once again one more time c 1994 Conceited Fuck Productions Am I The Dog Speaks Am I Am I your friend or your greatest foe Or am I someone you don't even know Am I the one that you see on the street That your mama don't want you to end up to be Am I a murderer who kills everything Or am I a rapist who likes to hear screams Am I a comedian who makes you laugh Telling jokes each night of destruction and death Am I the victim of the crime Or am I doing hard time on the third of the nine Am I good or evil, I do not know 'Cause you tell me what I am, you're in control Am I your favorite son Or am I your god of pain Am I the knowledge I deny myself Or am I the light amidst the rain Am I the thing you need when you want what you cannot have Am I the reason everything good is bad Do I dwell in garbage or do I throw it away Or do I make the decision to fight the next day Am I black or white, red, yellow or green Or am I a person who knows equality Do I do the thing you expect me to do Because of the color I put in front of you All I wanted was respect in your eyes I got the respect yet I had the nerve to be surprised Am I now the martyr Am I going to be fine Am I Michael or Yusef or the next headline I ask you cause I just don't know Am I a baby born in a world so rude Addicted to a drug I could never have used Is this the way I came through these doors A junkie just like my mama was Am I what this world is about Not enough ways to come in To many ways to go out Am I the baby lying in bed Person claiming to be aiming shoots me in the head The future now becomes the past Am I first or am I last Now answer that Am I your favorite son Am I your god of pain Am I the knowledge I deny myself Or am I the light among the rain Am I the thing you need When you want what you cannot have Am I the reason everything good is bad Am I the thing that you fight for before you die in a senseless war Am I every child that ever died Every mother that ever cried Am I an earthquake or a hurricane Something that kills yet can't be put in jail Am I a man who hunts for meat even though meat is murder Am I that crazy, that when I need food I'd eat you too Am I another example that this beautiful world just isn't pretty Paradise lost and the cost is what you see, reality for free Am I the one who understands or am I a fool Or am I just like you Am I made in your image or are you made in mine Did I offer you a reward you will get in due time Am I the reason for the mystery you face Or am I the kid who swings and swings yet can't reach first base Am I watching my manchild go astray Or did I want it that way And if I did why did I bother in the first place Why did I put you in the race If I knew you couldn't win Am I about to be gonged or did you like my act My fact My fiction and all that Am I history which repeats itself From the caves to the slaves to the wars power and wealth Am I getting to deep Or am I going to far Am I what you want to be Or what you already are This tells you the vision The wisdom of the design Is it a crime or the kind leading the blind Now I ask you for the last time Am I the life lessons that you learn Within this the real as the world turns Am I the one you see When you turn your eye to the sky Or do lie I can't be what I say Or am I ?
