1. The Bible provides unequivocal descendancy from the alleged creation of Adam to the birth of Jesus.
2. The number of generations from Adam to Jesus is 60.
3. The Bible provides ages of all descendants in this lineage from Adam to Judah. After Judah the direct lineage to Jesus via direct descendancy cannot be tracked.
4. After Judah, chronology can instead be tracked in the Bible to Cyrus, King of Babylon.
5. Nebuchadrezzar, who was King of Babylon prior to Cyrus, is known to have died in 565 via non-Biblical records so the chronology from Cyrus to Jesus can be determined in the absence of this data being present in the Bible itself.
6. The blue columns in the table below provide the trackable dates from Adam to Judah via direct lineage descendancy and then to Jesus via non-descendancy events.
7. All years are precise where possible, i.e. when the Bible provides both the lifespans of fathers and the ages of the fathers when their sons were born, then the exact year is given.
8. Where only the lifespan of the father is given then it has been generously assumed that the child was born in the last year of the father’s life so as to err in favour of the Bible. Naturally, many of the sons will have been born well before the father’s last year so the figures are the absolute maximum length of time that these events could have happened within. The actual elapsed time though is inevitably shorter.
9. In using a year, the year itself has been used although the actual elapsed time could have been up to one day less than one extra year, e.g. Adam fathered Seth at age 130, at the absolute outside, but he could theoretically have been one day short of his 131^st birthday when he fathered Seth. Even if this occurred for each descendant it would merely amount to a < 60-year margin of error for the 60 generations, but the generous allowance of assuming every son was fathered in the father’s last year more than compensates for this.
10. The Bible’s chronology accounts for an absolute maximum of 4,410 elapsed years between Adam’s alleged creation and Jesus’s birth. With the 2,000 years since Jesus this means that the Bible states that the Earth was created less than 6,500 years ago.
11. Science estimates the Earth was formed circa 4,600,000,000 years ago.
