AS I AWOKE

Early in the morning, long before the sun's rise,
Preceding flights of fowls and their journey toward blue skies,
I hear the silent whisper of your voice, forever still,
Assuring me when no one else can love me, that You will.

You tell me that you'll always be beside me when I'm weak,
And tell me all the words to say when I cannot speak.
Your love for me is proven every time I feel your touch,
Reminding me that when I fall, you are there to be my crutch.

When times of trouble overcome, my heart cries out to You,
And in that moment I feel You lift me up, and make me new.
But Lord when you allow me to endure a little longer,
I know it's just because you want me to grow a little stronger.

At times my faith is tested by the storms that you allow,
And in my darkest hours Lord, I sometimes wonder how.
How would you rescue a weak and sinful man such as I?
With tears in your eyes you remind me that you saved me when you died.

Oh Lord I fall on my face, as I thank You for all You've done,
And I'm grateful that you paid the price, and now my life is won.
You have given me a new life, and life abundantly,
Thank You Lord for dying, that by Your death You set me free.
