They don't treat bulls very well in Spain, even in Cathedrals!
This castle in Avilla was one of the most beautiful we saw, perched on mountain near twilight.
The aquaducts in Segovia date back to the Romans. I wrote an Italian co-worker, "look what your anscestors did!"
Here's my father and I standing in front of Salobrena, a beautiful seaside town on the Costa Del Tropico. I remember seeing it on "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous", so naturally we just stopped to take a photo.
This is the view from atop the gun emplacement at Gibraltar. The tanker in the picture below is headed out to sea from Cadiz. Because we were at Gibraltar on Christmas day, the cable cars to the top were not running, and I had to drive a stick-shift rental Opel up and down grades as steep as 50 degrees! The brakes really suffered, as well as another part of the car, but that's another story, read on. . .
OK, these little monkeys, a.k.a "Apes" live on Gibraltar and suck up to tourists for their favorite food, raw potatoes. The way the fling themselves up and down the rocks, you'd think fall off. Well, they're not only smart and agile, but they've got a nasty little attitudes. One jumped onto the hood of the Opel and started tearing at the rubber seal around the windshield with his claws, (fingernails really, but sharp as an eagle's talons). Well, I leaned forward and yelled at the little sucker, but he came foward, leaping at me. I jumped back: I didn't want to be mauled by a monkey. Throwing raw potatoes wouldn't discourage him from continuing to tear at the seal. Finally, I clicked the doorlocks off and on with the remote entry keychain and that startled him off the hood, but not before he'd pulled several long strands of seal off. Luckily, the rental agency didn't notice.
