SAMHAIN-OCT.31

This is the beginning of the year.It marks the end of the third and final harvest day. To commune with and rememberance of the dead. It is a celebration of the eternal cycle of reincarnation.

YULE:WINTER SOLSTICE-DEC.20-23

Is the longest night of the year. Its the celebration of the rebirth of the Sun God, at the depth of the dark, and beginning of the waxing half of the year.

IMBOLG: CANDLEMAS, FEB.2

The beginning of light in the waxing year. It's the celebration of the Goddess Brigid, who is slowly turning the wheel of the year back to spring.

OSTRA: SPRING EQUINOX-MARCH 22

It is when we celebrate spring's return as the light slowly gains in strength over the dark. It is a time when light, and dark are equal. Ostra was the name of the Virgin Godddess of spring in ancient Germany. This sabbet was named for her.

BELTANE-APRIL 30

Falls opposite Samhain. The two Sabbets mark the beginning and ending of the year. Beltane is a fertility Sabbet, and also the beginning of summer. It is the honor of Bel, the God of light.

MIDSUMMER:SUMMER SOLSTICE-JUNE 22

Is the longest day of the year. The peak of light and the reign of the Sun God. This point marks the beginning of the second half of the year.

LAMMAS: LUGHNASADH-JULY 31/AUGUST 1

The celebration of the fire God Lugh. This is the beginning of the dark and, the first harvest festival.

MABON: FALL EQUINOX-SEPT. 20-23

Is the second harvest. Light and dark are equal, and as the light fades the darkness increases. It is a time of rest betweenthe first gathering of grain, and the final harvest at Samhain.
