You noticed that you were running a bit low on gas, so you stopped here to fill up the tank, and maybe talk to the owner a bit. You pull up to the full service and get out of the car. An older looking man walks out. He is wearing overalls and an oil stained shirt. His small round face is in need of a shave, and he is short and heavy. But he is very friendly as you soon find out.
As soon as he finds out you've come to see the town, he starts talking. He tells you what the neighbor did yesterday, he tells you about the man the sheriff arrested five years ago, he tells you about how his dog was hit by a car and lost a leg, he tells you about the sites to see and which ones to avoid.
"Now stay far away from Miss Morgan's place." he warns, looking you straight in the eye. "She is into somethin' very dangerous, and God has been tellin' me that she's soon gonna be punished fer it."
"Miss Morgan?" you ask.
As you ask, you see the shock register on his face. He is flustered and explains to you that he meant to say Lucy Fire. You try to ask him why he called her Miss Morgan, but seeing the scared look he gets, you realize that what ever the reason, he's not going to explain.
You decide to take a chance. You ask him if Morgan was her maiden name. But he refused to answer that. Why is he so worried about answering you?
You pay for the gas, and the three Dr. Peppers you drank while he was talking, and you thank him for the friendly service. He smiles as he realizes you've dropped the subject now. You get in your car, and begin to pull away. He calls after you: "Be sure to visit our town bell tower! It's a beloved town site."
