Hair Salon  "walk-ins welcome"

Knowing how much gossip one finds in a hair salon, you decide you're in desperate need of a trim.  You walk in and find only a 20 minute wait, so you sit down and strike up a conversation with an "old timer".

You manage to get the conversation turned to the town's history, and this gentleman gladly tells you all about the town.  Most of what he says is irrelevant to what you're wanting to know, but he mentions the town fire back in 1963, and you suddenly take notice!

You ask the cause of it, and he tells you no one really knows.  The story goes that it was caused by a gas explosion, but that seems unlikely because it skipped some buildings, and hit others.  When asked by another listener if it was because of burning debris, he answers that is what they decided, but he doesn't believe it.

You ask the question that you've been wondering:  "So what do YOU think caused it?"

At this point, he starts talking weird, about evil creatures and monsters, and about Ms Fire and her late husband sacrificing to the devil, and so on.  You notice the locals just tolerate his stories and understand his mental condition isn't up to par.

As you're getting your haircut, the man (Jim) who is cutting it tells you that old Ted Thompson hasn't been here mentally since his young wife died, and he tends to rant and rave at times.  The big fire in town in 1963 was indeed caused by a gas explosion, in several locations, and the flying debris caught many other buildings on fire.  He also says that since Lucy and her husband's last name happens to be Fire, Ted had decided they were behind the whole thing.  He and Lucy's husband had a falling out long ago, and Ted would be happy to blame anything on her husband!

Unsure of what to think of the whole thing, you ask him about the sacrificing, and why Mr. Thompson said that.  Jim says it's just crazy talk.  He says he's good friends with Lucy, and she would never do such things.

All of a sudden, you get an eerie feeling that Jim knows much more than he's telling, but you also know that because he's friends with Lucy, and because he's the one who is cutting your hair, you're not going to push the matter any further.

This is getting too dangerous! Let me outta here!

Now I'm REALLY curious! I want to go on! 1
