McDoogal's Restaurant

You decide to stop in a local fast food restaurant for some caffeine.  You don't expect to find any clues here, because the place is too new.  However, when you need caffeine, you need caffeine!  You place your order, then take it to a corner where you hope to have a few minutes to yourself.

But luck is not on your side.  You've not taken your first sip before a drunk stumbles to the table next to you with a cup of coffee in his hands.  As he does, he sloshes some of the hot liquid on your table.  He sets it down quickly and apologizes, while he tries to wipe your table with his sleeve.  Frustrated, you shrug him off and try to ignore his drunken conversation.  That does not discourage him, because he continues to talk to you whether or not you'll listen.

Much as you don't want to, you can't help but hear all he says....

"It was HER fault, you know!  She oughtn't have done it!  Her stinkin' actions changed the whole world.  Did you know that it cost $3 million to discover there was no way to fix what she done?  Now I gotta get drunk just to deal with what she done!  You know how much damage one woman can do?  All it takes is one to ruin a man, a town, and an entire universe.  You hear of man eaters?  She's a galaxy eater!  You hear of home breakers?  She's a earth breaker."

You try to finish your drink quickly, but suddenly, he stands up, puts his nose less than 6 inches from your nose and yells at the top of his voice:  "SHE RUINED US ALL!  IT'S HER FAULT BRANCHVILLE GOT RUINED!"

Not only are you terribly offended by the smell of alcohol on his breath, but you're startled at this revelation!  Is he refering to what happened in 1963?  Is he talking about what Lucy Fire did?  Maybe he's talking about something that has happened recently!  What does this man know?

You turn to him, convince him to sit back down, and then ask him what she did that ruined everything.  He stares at you unblinking, and you ask if he is talking about Lucy Fire.  Still he stares.  Finally you ask when this happened.  In answer, he slumps forward into your lap, unconscious.

The employee cleaning the tables across the aisle comes over and helps pull this man off of you.  She apologizes to you, and calls to another employee to phone Terri and tell her to come get her husband again.  You ask her what his problem is, and she just shrugs and says he's just the town drunk.  He comes in and babbles all kinds of weird things and then passes out.  She reassures you that there's nothing to what he babbles, it's just all in his mind.  Not so sure, you thank her, and quickly leave with your drink.  You've had enough here!
