Branchville Museum

You have come to the local museum.  It is tastefully decorated, and very clean.  Quite a fancy place.  You pay the $3 to get in, and you start to look around.

You see tools from bygone years, and old doctor medications.  There is lots of clothing dating back to the 1800s and newspaper clippings from Vinestown, the major metropolis nearby.  But nothing that tells about the town.

Then you notice a door.  Since it doesn't have a sign telling you otherwise, you open it and look in.  It is a small room, well lit and seems to have odds and ends.  No one has noticed you, so you quickly slip in and shut the door.

Now you find information about the town, in a way.  This room is dedicated to Ron Talbot, a local boy turned famous actor.  Newspaper clippings from the Branchville newspaper cover the wall on one side of the room.  Headlines include such things as:  "Ron Talbot Signs Movie Contract"  "Movie ' Certainty' Outsells All Expectations"  "Ron Talbot Nominated for an Oscar"

Still nothing that will help.  Then you find some older clippings.  It seems that Ron Talbot was well liked in the town even before he became a star.  These read:  "Little Boy Saves Birds"  "Russ Talbot's Boy Wins Swim Meet"  "Ron Talbot: Helping the Elderly"

Just as you begin to think there is nothing here either, you decide to check the back of some of these clippings. They are laminated, and framed, but you notice the frame is easy to disassemble.  Behind one is the weather forecast.  Behind another, an add for women's shoes.  Behind the third, you find an article, not complete, but it tells of an awful fight between an Edward Fire and a Ted Thompson.  Edward Fire?  Maybe he is related to Lucy Fire!  Just as you are getting excited, you look at the top of the paper.  The date is November, 1962, but then you realize, this is not the Branchville paper, this paper is called the Morgantown News. Morgantown?  There's no such town in this area!   Disappointed, you put the paper back, and leave.

I'm too discouraged. I want to leave. 1
