Christmas is obviously an international festival. People in most countries await for this festival year after year. This festival is obviously a joyous occasion for everyone in the world not merely because it is a public holiday but also a day to celebrate with great laughter, joy and of course a day to remember the birth of Lord Jesus Christ.

Christmas Day is actually to commemorate the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. Well, 25th of December is not the exact date when Lord Jesus Christ was borned but it is just simply a date to remember the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. The date of birth of Lord Jesus Christ is still unknown till today. There is totally no record of His joyous birth.

The usual custom of Christmas is decorating the house with Christmas Tree, Santa Claus, giving gifts and organizing or attending a party. About Christmas Tree, it is actually a custom not related to the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. That is considered a paganic idea. The person who pioneered this idea probably thought of earning some maney through this way and soon it just became a custom as the years passed by. However, giving away gifts and celebrating with great laughter in parties is not actually a paganic idea. About giving away gifts: When Lord Jesus Christ was borned, the wisemen offered Him some gifts. About celebrating: The birth of Lord Jesus Christ is something joyous so it should be celebrated with great euphoria.

The paganic ideas resulted with grieve in sudden people's heart. They said that Christmas Tree, the lights for decoration and Santa Claus are nothing to do with the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. They said that the most important thing is to remember the birht of Lord Jesus Christ. However, all these materialistic things have become a custom to everyone and it seems that it is something indispensable during Christmas Day. Before the brith of Lord Jesus Christ, there were already prophecies regarding the birth of lord Jesus Christ and in the prophecies, it was said that a bright star would appear as a sign that Lord Jesus Christ was borned. Lord Jesus Christ was given birth by soft-hearted and kind lady called Mary. An angel Gabriel came to her and told her that she would give birth to a child of God, Lord Jesus Christ. She was terribly afraid at that time but somehow the angel managed to calmed her down. Soon, Mary found out that she was having a child in her womb. When that was known by her fiancé, Joseph, he was jealous, most probably because he thought that the baby was some other men. However, God managed to persuade him to be together with Mary. So, Joseph obeyed God. Due to sudden circumstances, he migrated together with Mary and the child in the womb. However, they could not find a permanent place to stay so he and Mary stopped in Bethlehem and decided to lodge in an inn. Howeve, the inn was full and they just ended up in a smelly stable and not long after that, Mary was ready to give birth to a child.

Meanwhile, a few wisemen saw that promising and auspicious star. They were greatly excited and quickly prepared some gifts. After that, they began their journey by following that bright star. Soon, they found Him. Their faced glittered with great joy and ecstasy and immediately they gave away the presents to Him.

The reason why Christmas Day should be a joyous occasion it is simply because Lord Jesus Christ came to this world to die for the entire human race because of their sins. That is why Christmas Day is so important. It is not merely a day of giving away presents to lovely children. It is not merely a day of celebrating with friends. It is not merely a vigil festival. But it is also a day to remember the birth of the most Honourable One, Lord Jesus Christ.

So, if you're a Christian, remember what Christmas Day is for. If you're not, then I do hope you will enjoy the day together with Christians. Let the celebration be a joyous one every year.
