ROAD ACCIDENTS

In some countries, statistics show that road accidents are constantly increasing from year to year. Inevitably, there are quite a number of newspaper reports on road accidents in these countries. It seems that it has come to a terrifying point and obviously, something must done. Though the government has tried their best to solve this serious problem but their effort is simply futile. Well, what is the cause of the increasing road accidents from year to year? Besides that question, what is the way to solve this problem which is giving the authorities a headache?

One of the cause of road accidents is taking alcohol drinks before or when driving a road vehicle. The alcohol in these kind of drinks can disturb the brain cells and as a consequence, causing a person to be drunk. Once a person is drunk and he or she is driving, surely he is bound to get involved in an accident. Injuries and death is a bound to happen when a drunk person is driving. This is because, the driver might lose control of the vehicle and drive without any sense of direction. Consequently, there is a high possibility that the driver might end up in his or her death bed.

The second factor is traffic jams in sudden country. Traffic jams are more common in big urban areas and thus, arousing the emotion of drivers who are caught up in a congested road. This is certainly unavoidable. Just imagine if you are in a car and get caught up in a massvie traffic jam. Needless to day that you will hardly move an inch in five minutes. Besides that, you will hear loud 'honks'. Soon, this kind of condition might stir up your emotions and you might sometimes act impetuously as you drive when the congested road become less congested. Consequently, you might end up in an accident.

Nowadays, youths too contribute to this predicament. In some countries, youths find it exhilirating to have a race with their own vehicles like motorbikes and cars which are usually illegal. This kind of race is actually quite dangerous. Very often, these youths have pride and want to show their abilities by doing special actions and stunts. If they are unfortunate, they are bound to end up in the hospital be in no time. Besides that, they might accidentally crash into another vehicle and get injuries. See how these kind of things can lead someone into a mishap.

Sometimes, road accidents are caused by the attitude of the road users who use their vehicles. Some are very impatient so much so that they often like to go beyond the speed limit which is stipulated. Besides that, some people like to continue driving even though the traffic lights show that it is time to stop their vehicles for a moment. There are also a handful who overtake a vehicle in places where overtaking is disallowed. There are also some children who might cross the road without looking left and right or they may play on the road if they are ignorant of road safety. All these only leads to one thing - road accitdents.

Since road accidents are on the rise, obviously, something must be done to deter it from rising. Firstly, the government must launched a campaign on 'Road Safety'. Nowadays, we keep thinking that everyone is very aware of the precautions which must be taken on the road but it seems that that is not 100% true. They may know about it but do not practise it. So, by lauching a campaign, people can not only know the precautions on the road but also remind themselves about the consequences of not taking precaution. This is actually very important though people may know about the precautions on the road. By doing this, people will abide the rules and regulations on the road by pratising road safety measures.

Besides that, sufficient road facilities must be available especially during rush hours. In some countries on the world, there are insuffiecient road facilities and thus, causing traffic jams which can cause road accidents. So, to solve this problem, facilities must be suffiecient. The government too should try to make sure that these kinds of facilities are always in a tip-top condition so as not to keep away people from making use these facilities. Concurrently, road facilities drivers should be fined by the authorities if their road facilities is in a deplorable condition. If this is carried out, surely traffic jams will be reduced to the optimum and drivers' or motorcyclists' emotions will not be aroused much anymore.

The media mass can also play a role in solving this predicament. Television and radio stations can broadcast some advertisements on road safety. Newspapers and magazines too can bring awareness to readers about road safety. Besides that, posters too should also be placed in public areas. Together with all these, some slogans which can trigger people to abide road safety should be highlighted repeatedly. Slogans such and 'Love Yourself', 'Think Of Your Loved Ones and many more are suitable to resolve road accidents. Actually all this can also be done at the same time when the campaign is launched.

To sum up everything, this problem must not be taken lightly to everyone in this world. All road users, authorities and the government must cooperate to bring this problem into a resolution so that injuries and deaths will be reduced to the optimum. So, when you drive, walk on the road or riding on a motorbike, bear in mind always to abide the road safety measures.
