Food Pyramid Unit

Here are some pictures of our Food Pyramid Unit to start with. I will add to this as soon as I can!

Here a child is measuring items in the room with (paper) pancakes.

I had the students draw and then write a sentence about what they had for lunch one day.

In groups, the children did a mural of The Little Red Hen. Each group had a part of the story. They wrote a story and then illustrated.

We made pancakes. After eating them, the students cut out what the pancake looked like and then glued it into the pan. They then wrote a sentence about what it looked like.

I copied the last pages of The Counting Cheerios Book and had the students glue cheerios on the paper in groups.

This is an example of pasta art.

This is the Grain Train.

We made spaghetti!

Vegetable Prints

We read the book, Stone Soup, and then did this art activity.

Here is a mouse we made out of fruit to go with the book, Lunch.

In groups, the students cut out pictures and glued them on a pyramid.

To go with the book, It Looks Like Spilt Milk, the children used a straw and white paint to "blow paint". Then they decided what their clouds looked like and wrote about it.
