Activities:
- Mouse puppet- I have a jumbo mouse sheet that the students color, cut, and glue onto
a paper bag to make a puppet.
- We do telling time to the hour with Hickory Dickory Dock. We make paper plate
clocks and attach a mouse on a string to the clock. We then act out the poem.
- Tear Drop Mouse
- If You Give A Mouse A Cookie sequence activity. I have pictures from the book.
We glue them in order on a sentence strip and then staple in a circle. The students can
then go home and tell the story to their parents.
- We bake chocolate chip cookies to go with the story, If You Give A Mouse A
Cookie. We drink it with milk.
- I read The Mitten. The children “sew” a mitten. They color and cut out the
characters of the story. We then act out the story.
- I have all the students bring in their favorite cookie recipe. I then make a Cookie
Recipe Book for the parents. The parents bake the cookies on the last day of the unit and
we have a cookie party. The kids love it. I’ll put this years cookbook on here when I
have a chance.
- We make mouse ears by having the students trace and cut out two circles for ears and
attaching them to a sentence strip. I also draw whiskers on their faces.
- Here is one of the mouse picture and words.
