Ponder this scripture. Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding. There is nothing in this present world worth spending eternity in the "Lake of Fire." 1 Corinthians 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. 4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. God commands that when we assemble for church service the Gifts of The Spirit are to be a part of the church service. To not obey this commandment is sin. 1Corinthian:14:26 How is it then, brethren? When ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying. 27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. 28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. 29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. 30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. 31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. When a child is born into the world, because of the original sin of Adam the child is alive physically but dead spiritually. 1Corinthians:15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. In this unregenerated state God's children run with the children of Satan doing things that are against the commandments of God. In the fullness of time God calls his children to repentance, and when we receive the Holy Ghost, the inward man the soul comes to life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. When a person receives the Holy Ghost it is the earnest that they shall inherit the Kingdom of God. Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. Some people receive the Holy Ghost before they are baptized. Acts 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Some people receive the Holy Ghost after they are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Acts2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Some people receive the Holy after being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and the laying on of hands. Acts 19:1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, 2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. 3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. 4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. 7 And all the men were about twelve. The most wonderful thing that will happen to a Child of God in this world is the receiving of the Holy Ghost. When a Child of God receives the Holy Ghost, the Holy Ghost brings a gift or gifts. The Holy Ghost brings a gift that you might prosper there with. 1Corinthians 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. Here are the Gifts of the Spirit. The Spirit of Wisdom, the Word of Knowledge, Gift of Faith, Gift of Healing, Working of Miracles, Prophecy, Discerning of Spirits, Divers Kinds of Tongues; the Interpretation of Tongues. The first mentioned in the gifts of the Spirit is the Spirit of Wisdom. Wisdom is a female Spirit. Proverbs 8:11Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice? Proverbs 8:8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. 9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge. 10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. 11 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. 12 I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. Proverbs 8:35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. 36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death. The next gift mentioned is the Gift of Knowledge. Knowledge is a spirit. At the baptism of Jesus Christ when the Spirit of God decended from heaven and alighted upon Jesus, the son of the virgin Mary, three gifts made Jesus of quick understanding. Isaiah 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, the Spirit of Counsel and might, the Spirit of Knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; A person cannot even call Jesus "Lord" except it be revealed to him by the Holy Ghost. 1Corinthians12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. I believe that knowledge comes into the brain three ways first; by experience, the things you do, and the things that you see done; Secondly; I believe that knowledge comes into the brain by perception the things you see, hear, taste, smell, touch, through the senses; Thirdly; I believe if you learn any thing about the Lord Jesus it shall be by revelation. Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. The next Gift of the Spirit mentioned is the Gift of Faith. I believe that all of God's children were created in such a way, that we have the ability to believe spiritual things without seeing. When we hear the word of God preached faith comes into our heart. Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. When a person receives the Gift of Faith nothing is impossible to him. Matthew17:19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 20And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. For nothing to be impossible to a man he must have Gifted Faith. The children of Satan have no faith. The next Gift of the Spirit mentioned is "The Gift of Healing," There was a man asked me this question, Brother Mathis do you believe in Devine healing. I answered brother if you get healed it shall be God that heals you. Doctors can prescribe medicine, Surgeons can cut and sew, but when it comes to healing God has reserved healing for himself. When a man of God within whom the Spirit of God dwells lays his hands upon someone the body of Christ is touching that person. And virtue flows from the Body of Christ, and heals that person. Here is the commandment that is given to the Saints of God that are sick. James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15.And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. There are precious promises mentioned in these scriptures, and that is if you will call for the Elders of the Church and allow them to pray over you, laying hands on you, anointing you with oil; the pray of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up, and if he has committed sins they shall be forgiven him. Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. There is coming a time, when the men in authority in these different church denomiations, are going to have to give an account for allowing men and women to sit in their congregations sick; and will not allow them to call for the elders of the church, and allow the elder of the church to pray over them anointing with oil, in the name of Jesus Christ so that they may receive their healing. When it comes to Grace and faith, we know that it is only God that can heal our bodies, but when it comes to works do every thing that you can to get the person well. Example if you want a garden, you plow , you plant, you water, but it is only God that can give the increase. You may wonder why if a man has the Gift of Healing why he does not go down to the hospital and heal everyone in the hospital. Only men and women that have faith can receive a miraculous healing. If a person doubts he will receive nothing from God. Mark6:4 But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. 5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. 6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. The Gift of Miracles, When a person has the Gift of Miracles, when he prays things happen, marvelous things, that just cannot be explained logically. The next Gift of the Spirit is "Prophecy. by prophecy we as Christian know the future. For example the Day of the Lord, the day that Christ Jesus shall return for His bride the church shall come upon the children of Satan as a thief in the night. 1 Thessalonians 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. But the day of the Lord shall not come on the Saints of God as a thief because of prophecy. First sign shall be that all the nations of the whole world shall come down to ten nations. Revelation17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. The Antichrist shall reign forty two months.Revelation 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.The Antichrist shall reign Forty Two months, and Jesus Christ shell return, and kill the Antichrist. 2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Therefore if you will mark the day that the Antichrist begins to reign and count forty two months from that day you should be very close to the day Christ Jesus returns. The next gift of the spirit mentioned is Discerning of Spirits. There are two spirit worlds talking to God's children most all of the time, God, and Satan, and to distinguish between the two is a gift of God. The next Gift of the Spirit mentioned is the Gift of Tongues. When a man speaks in the unknown tongue, his soul speaks to God, no man understands the unknown tongue, 1 Corinthians 14:2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. But God understands, and answers through an interpretor. If there be no interpretor let him keep silent. Do all men speak in tongues? No. 1 Corinthians 12:28-30
