A Sermon by Reverend Hollis Ray Mathis

reetings, holy children of God, in the wonderful name of our lord and saviour Jesus, the Christ. The sermon subject for today is:

The Golden Rule

Think on this Prov:17:13 Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house. The sermon subject for today is “The Golden Rule. Mat:7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. What are Laws? Laws are rules of conduct sat forth by authority. What is authority? Authority is one that has the power to give commands, demand obedience, and punish the transgressors. For a saint of God to made heaven their eternal home they must study the laws of God, and delight in keeping them. Rom:7:22For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:This present world would be like heaven if all men would live by the laws of God especially the Golden Rule, there would be no need for Armies, Navies, Air Forces or other Military, no need for Police, Sheriffs, Jails or Penitentiaries. Eph::5:29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:What should our conduct be toward God? We are to love God with all our heart, mind, strength, and soul.Mk :12 :30And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. We confirm, prove to be true, that we love God when we keep His commandments. Jn:14:15If ye love me, keep my commandments. Are there many people transgressing the laws of God? Great multitudes of people transgress the Laws of God, some wilfully, some in ignorance. When a man prays with his head covered or woman prays with her head uncovered they are transgressing God’s commandment. 1Cor:11:3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 4Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. 5But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. 6For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. Remember this, every deed, every word, whether good are bad is being recorded, Eccl:12:13Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Rev:20:12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Mat:12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. I am trying to tell you; fill your life with good works and good words, for they will determine where you spend eternity. We, as saints of God, are commanded to be perfectly righteous. Mat:5:48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Amplified Translation: Mat:5:48You, therefore, must be perfect [growing into complete [ak]maturity of godliness in mind and character, [al]having reached the proper height of virtue and integrity], as your heavenly Father is perfect. Virtue defined- doing the right thing, to the right person, at the right time, to the proper extent, in the correct fashion, for the right reason. How do we as saints of God become perfectly righteous? “By Faith and Works.” We become perfectly righteous when we place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ for our salvation, and place our faith and trust in the blood he shed on Calvaries Cross for our redemption. Rom:3:25Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Jm:2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. For a child of God to keep the commandments of God he must receive the Holy Ghost. It is the Holy Ghost that brings the soul of man to life. 1Jn:3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. Every word that God speaks is precious. Jesus Christ, God’s, darling son, said these words. Matthew 4:4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. There is no place in the bible that says this verse of scripture is the Golden Rule, Mat:7:12Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. But we, as born again, Holy Ghost filled, children of God, believe that this verse of Scripture is very special, very precious. This verse of scripture which we call the Golden Rule teachs us how we are to deal with individuals or groups, in conversation, or social activities. For example (our spouse, our neighbor, our fellower workers, those people in need, all men,) how to deal with someone in a pleasurable way. For example if you do not want someone to steal your bicycle do not steal their bicycle, or their automobile, money, the affections of their wife or husband, their children or anything that belongs to another. These verses of scripture may help you to decide not to steal , and not to bear false witness. Zech:5:1Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll. 2And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. 3Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it. 4 I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof. Of the “Ten Commandments” number eight readsEx:20:15Thou shalt not steal. If someone steals something of great value from you, you will never forget this verse of scripture. If you do not want someone committing adultery with your wife do not commit adultery with their wife. Adultery destroys the soul. It is the soul that shall live in eternity for the inward man the soul is renewed day by day. Prov:6:32But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. That part of a born again man or woman that is to live in eternity will be dead. 2Corinthians 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. The surest way to destroy your spouse’s love is to commit adultery. Think on this, in your spouce’s mind there is no statue of limitations on adultery. If your spouse finds out 30 years after the act of adultery, it shall be as if it just happened. God has given certain rights to all men, which are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The unborn child has rights, and one of them is the right to life. The children of Satan that voted to legalize abortion, the people that sought the doctors to perform the abortions, the doctors that performed the abortions, and caused the death of millions of unborn children will stand before God one day, and try to justify their actions. But I believe the blood of those unborn children will cry out for justice. Exodus:21:22 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. 23And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, 24Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. Parents if you do not want your children’s arms, legs, necks, backs, or other parts of the human body broken do not send your sons, and daughters, to participate in these sports arenas; such as football, basket ball, soccer, boxing, wrestling; these games are games that preceding from the devil to cripple, and make impotent men women, and children. When you see your child laying out on a football, soccer, base ball, field with a broken leg, or arm, or some other part of the human body broken, you as a parent must know there is something wrong with these games. Outside of the sports arenas the secular Law forbids even the touch of another human being; but in the sports arena, evil men may break a persons arm, leg, or neck without punishment, only penalty is against their team. When men and women enter into competition, they can look for bad things to happen for competition is forbidden by Holy Scripture. we as Christians call competition “Emulation.”Emulation is strickly forbidden by the Holy Scriptures. Emulation is one of the Works of the Flesh. Those that commit the sin of Emulations shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. Galatians:5:19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. What is the Kingdom of God? The Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy, in the Holy Ghost. Romans 14:17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. If you will mortify, the deeds of the flesh you shall live. Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Control your body, avoid the Works of the Flesh. 1Cor:9:25And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. If all men shaped their lives according to the Golden Rule, this conforming to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action, living a consistently conscientious life] is righteous, even as He is righteous. 8But] he who commits sin [who practices evildoing] is of the devil [takes his character from the evil one], for the devil has sinned (violated the divine law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done]. 9No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and [h]habitually] practices sin, for God's nature abides in him [His principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God. 10By this it is made clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take their nature from the devil and are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God's will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow [i]believer in Christ). When a child of God is born into the world, before we receive the Holy Ghost we are alive physically, but because of the original sin of Adam, dead spiritually. In this unregenerate state we run with the children of Satan and transgress the commandments of God. The children of God are few, but there are multitudes of the children of Satan. Present world would be more like heaven. There would be no need for law enforcement officer’s jails, prisons, or military. But in this present world there are God’s children that have received the Holy Ghost, have received the born again experience, The born again Christian can live the sin free life. (Amplified Translation.) 1 John 3:1 SEE WHAT [[a]an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown, bestowed on) us, that we should [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! The reason that the world does not know (recognize, acknowledge) us is that it does not know (recognize, acknowledge) Him. 2Beloved, we are [even here and] now God's children; it is not yet disclosed (made clear) what we shall be [hereafter], but we know that when He comes and is manifested, we shall [[b]as God's children] resemble and be like Him, for we shall see Him [c]just as He [really] is. 3And everyone who has this hope [resting] on Him cleanses (purifies) himself just as He is pure (chaste, undefiled, guiltless). 4Everyone who commits (practices) sin is guilty of lawlessness; for [that is what] sin is, lawlessness (the breaking, violating of God's law by transgression or neglect--being unrestrained and unregulated by His commands and His will). 5You know that He appeared in visible form and became Man to take away [upon Himself] sins, and in Him there is no sin [[d]essentially and forever]. 6No one who abides in Him [who lives and remains [e]in communion with and in obedience to Him--deliberately, knowingly, and [f]habitually] commits (practices) sin. No one who [habitually] sins has either seen or known Him [recognized, perceived, or understood Him, or has had an experiential acquaintance with Him]. 7[g]Boys (lads), let no one deceive and lead you astray. He who practices righteousness [who is upright,
