A Sermon by Reverend Hollis Ray Mathis

reetings, holy children of God, in the wonderful name of our lord and saviour Jesus, the Christ. The sermon subject for today is:

Mortal Sins

Why did God create you? God created man for his pleasure. Rev:4:11Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. No system of Law could be effective if it allowed ignorance to be a valid defense in all cases. For men would not study Law, and when brought before a Judge, would simply plead that they were no aware that the Law they transgressed existed. God has commanded us to study.Amplified Translation2Tim:2:15 Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth. The sermon subject is “ Mortal Sin.” What is sin? Sin is a transgression of God’s Law1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.Are there many people going into the flames of Hell because of sin? In the world to come, to prepare the wicked for Hell, a giant winepress shall be sit up, and the wicked people, the grapes of God’s wrath, shall be gathered, and cast into the winepress; and the winepress shall be trod upon, and blood shall run in a valley for two hundred miles. Rev:14:18And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. 19And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs. Furlong defined- 1/8 of a mile.Whatsoever cannot be done in faith is sin. Rom:14:23And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. Here is the Law of faith. Rom:10:6But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) 7Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) 8But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; Sin comes in two colors scarlet, and crimson. Is:1:18Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. When Adam transgressed God’s commandment many things in the Spiritual World began to turn red, the earth, the people the animals, birds, creeping things, sin also entered into heaven.Lev:16:14And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times. 15Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat: Heb:9:11But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. Sin is located on the feet of people. It is absolutely necessary, to your salvation, that you wash the feet of the saints, and allow them to wash your feet. Jn:13:8Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. 9Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.10Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. Whit defined- smallest amount. Sin is divided into sin of commission, and omission. A sin of commission is a positive act contrary to the laws of God.The sin of omission is failure to do what God commands. There is only one sin that is a mortal sin before a man receives the Holy Ghost, and that is the blaspheme of the Holy Ghost. Mk:3:28Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation. But once a man has received the Holy Ghost, the outward man is alive, and the inward man is alive, if he commits certain sins they become mortal sins. If a man circumcises himself with the intent to keep the Law of Moses, he will fall from grace, and Christ will profit him nothing. Gal:5:1Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 2Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. 4Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. 5For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. If a brother in Christ, or a sister in Christ comes to you, and they are destitute of food and clothes, and you refuse to help them, you will be in big trouble when you stand before God. Mat:25:32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: If a person will not repent, they will surely perish. Lk:13:3I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Except a man be be baptized, and receives the Holy Ghost, he cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. Jn:3:5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. What is the Kingdom of God? Rom14:17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. It is the Holy Ghost that brings the inward man the soul to life. It is the soul that shall live in eternity. 2Cor:4:16For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. It is a mortal sin for a man to fall away from the church, and renounce his faith. Hebrews 6:1Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal Judgment. 3And this will we do, if God permit. 4For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. When a child of God first receives the Holy Ghost, he is a babe in Christ, and if he transgresses a commandment of God in ignorance, he can confess that sin and be forgiven. 1Jn:1:9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Under the Law of Moses if a man committed a sin presumptuously he could not offer up a sacrifice and be forgiven of the sin, the sin remained. Num:15:30But the soul that doeth ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people. 31Because he hath despised the word of the LORD, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him. A similar Law has been brought over into the New Testament. But if after we have received the Holy Ghost, and come into the knowledge of the truth, we sin presumptuously, boldly, willfully, there is no more sacrifice for sin. Heb:10:26For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? 30For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. The Holy Scriptures say that if you will abstain from the works of the flesh you shall never come into condemnation. Romans 8:1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Here are the works of the flesh. Gal:5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Adultery defined-voluntary sexual relations between a married person and somebody other than his or her spouse. A person can marry into adultery.Rom:7:1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? 2For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. 3So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man. Fornication defined- All unlawful sex. Idolatry defined- the worship of idols or false gods. Emulations defined- competition, rivalry, example football, boxing, Poker etc. Heresies defined- preaching, and teaching things that do not agree with Holy Scripture. For example men preach “Once saved always saved, regardless of what sin you commit.”Another heresy is, “Faith plus nothing equals salvation.” Another heresy is “God loves you unconditionally.”Wrath defined- hatred moved to action. There are certain acts if committed are burning offenses. Rev:21:7He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Fearful defined-. frightening: causing or likely to cause fear. Unbelieving defined-skeptical: lacking belief or expressing disbelief about something. Abominable defined-Disgusting, loathsome: extremely repugnant or offensive. Example:Lev:18:22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. 23Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion. Murderers defined-crime of killing somebody: the crime of killing another person deliberately and not in self-defense or with any other extenuating circumstance recognized by law. Whoremongers defined-a person that runs a house of prostitution; pimp. Brothel, Sorcerers defined-One who practices sorcery; a wizard. Idolaters defined-worshiper of idols: Liar defined-falsehood, heretic, cheat, con artist, deceiver, dissimulator, equivocator, , fabricator, false witness, falsifier, fibber, maligner, misleader, perjurer, phony, prevaricator, promoter, storyteller, trickster. May the Lord bless you; and in the world to come give you eternal life.
