reetings,
holy children of God, in the wonderful name of our lord and saviour Jesus, the Christ.
The sermon subject for today is: Why are we, as saints of God called Protestant? Protestant defined 1. member of church rejecting papal authority: a member or adherent of any denomination of the Western Christian church that rejects papal authority and some fundamental Roman Catholic doctrines, and believes in justification by faith. The formulation of Protestants' beliefs began with the Reformation in the 16th century. The Protestant goes directly to the Word of God for instruction, and to the throne of grace in his devotions; whilst the pious Roman Catholic consults the teaching of his church, and prefers to offer his prayers through the medium of the Virgin Mary and the saints. >From this general principle of Evangelical freedom, and direct individual relationship of the believer to Christ, proceed the three fundamental doctrines of Protestantism — the absolute supremacy of (1)the Word of God, and of (2)the grace of Christ, and (3)the general priesthood of believers. Although belief in the "Holy Church" was included in the earliest form of the Roman Creed, the word Catholic does not seem to have been added to the Creed anywhere in the West until the fourth century. "The Bible, the whole Bible, and nothing but the Bible, is the doctrine of Protestants." 2Timothy:3:16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. The Holy scriptures are true, the King James translation, and I believe that it will agree with final reality. There are men that believe that the Pope the Bishop of Rome is the authority under Christ, and when he sits in his chair as overseer of the Catholic Church he is infallible. I believe that the bible, the New Testament is the authority under Christ , and the scriptures are infallible. 2Timothy:2:15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.(Amplified Translation) 2Timothy 2:15Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth. Roman Catholic view, which declares the Bible and tradition to be co-ordinate sources and rule of faith, and makes tradition, especially the decrees of popes and councils, the only legitimate and infallible interpreter of the Bible. 2Peter 1:20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. The word Protestant means to complain or object publicly: to express strong opposition to or disapproval of something in the form of a public demonstration or other action . Here are some of the teachings I believe came into the Catholic Church by tradition. For none of these teachings are found in the Holy Scriptures. 1The infallibility of The Pope. 2.The withholding of the Fruit of the Vine from the saints in the rite of the Eucharist. 3Prugatory, defined- place of suffering: in Roman Catholic doctrine, the place where souls remain until they have expiated their sins and can go to heaven 4.Kneeling down to idols, kissing idols, praying to idols 5.Praying to saints, 6The Rosery 7.The Immaculate Conception. defined (Mary was preserved exempt from all stain of original sin at the first moment of her animation, and sanctifying grace was given to her before sin could have taken effect in her soul.) 8.Requiring priests, and nuns to take vows of poverty. The Protestant movement began when Martin Luther nailed his theses to the church door (declaring that men are saved by faith.) Mentioning the wide gulf between Catholic doctrine and the Holy Scriptures. What do we as Protestants protest against. We protest against Catholic doctrine. For example it is the doctrine of the devil to forbidden their priest and nuns to marry.1Timothy:4:1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:5For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. 6If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. Because of the doctrine of Celibacy there is not one priest in the Catholic Church, qualified to be a bishop; according to the Holy Scriptures, which are the laws of God. For a man to qualify to be a bishop he must be a family man. 1Timothy:3:1This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 2.A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 3.not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 4.one that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 5.( for if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) 6.Not a Novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7.Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. We, as protestants, protest against the following 1.Kneeling down to, and praying to graven images. Exodus 20:4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 2Corinthians:6:15And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. 2. We protest against calling Catholic priest "Father." Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. If a person knows about this commandment and transgresses the commandment presumptuously. If God imputes wilfull sin to them all they have to look forward to is a fiery indignation. Hebrews 10:26For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? 30For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Would a priest be innocent of wrong doing if he allows a person to call him "Father?" Without giving a person a warning that they are committing a sin. If a person leads another into the pit, he will go into the pit himself. Revelations 13:10He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. 3. Praying repetitious prayers. We as saints of God are not to pray repetitious prayers, such as the Rosery. St. Matthew 6:7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. Another doctrine that should be changed is the doctrine of the Eucharist. When the priest perform the rite of the Holy Eucharist, they withhold the fruit of the vine from the congregation. When the priest come with the intent to perform the ritual of the Eucharist, the priest partake of both species the unleavened bread, and the fruit of the vine, but the congregation is only given the unleavened bread. When the unleavened bread is blessed it becomes the Body of Christ. Mt:26:26 and as they were eating Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and give it to the disciptles, and said, take, eat; this is my body. And, when the fruit of the vine is blessed it becomes the blood of Christ. 27. and he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying drink ye all of it, 28. for this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Jesus Christ said these words. "Except ye eat of the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink his blood you have no life in you. John:6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, verily, verily, I say unto you, except; ye eat the flesh of the son of man, and drink his blood ye have no life in you. 54. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 57. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me . 58. This is the bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. The word "and means (in addition to) therefore the verse could be expounded on to say, except ye eat of the flesh of the Son of Man, and (in addition) drink of His blood ye have no life in you. Here is the Amplified Version of the Bible. John:6:56He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood dwells continually in Me, and I [in like manner dwell continually] in him. 57Just as the living Father sent Me and I live by (through, because of) the Father, even so whoever continues to feed on Me [whoever takes Me for his food and is nourished by Me] shall [in his turn] live through and because of Me. 58This is the Bread that came down from heaven. It is not like the manna which our forefathers ate, and yet died; he who takes this Bread for his food shall live forever. Multitudes of men and women have gone out into eternity without partaking of the blood of Christ. Are you aware brethren that the Spirit of Life dwells in the blood. The Life of the flesh is in the blood. LV:17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh and atonement for your soul. Another doctrine that we protest against is the selling of "Indulgences." Indulgences defined . remission of punishment for sin: in Roman Catholicism, a granting by the pope of partial remission of time to be spent in purgatory or of some other consequence of a sin. In the Middle Ages, a practice of selling indulgences grew up. How do we prove that we love God? We prove that we love God by keeping His commandments. Jesus Christ, God’s darling Son said these words. John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. At the wedding in Cana they had no wine, therefore Mary, the mother of Jesus, said these words to the servants, " Whatsoever he saith unto you, "Do It." When they did what Jesus said, there was a miracle that occurred; the water was turned to wine. John:2:5 His mother saith unto the servants, whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. If you want to see a miracle (Catholic mortals in the resurrection putting on immortality) do what Jesus commands. Multitudes of men that belong to the Catholic Church wear hats, in the church, in the house of prayer, that are similar to what we call skull caps. Men are commanded not to cover their heads when they pray. For a man to cover His head when he prays is sin. 1 Corithians 11:3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 4Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. 5But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. 6For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. 7For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 8For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man. 9Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. 10For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. To understand the Holy Scpriture a person must receive the Holy Ghost. When a person receives the Holy Ghost, the anointing He brings will teach you, and bring you into all truth. 1John2:27But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him.
