I grew-up near the C&O Canal. One of my favorite winter pass-times was skating between Georgetown & Great Falls locks. This canal is, of course, a National Park & it's preservation has formed a wonderful corridor for observing nature & history as well a
as for recreation. I have great admiration for your society & hope the best for you all in your campaign to save pieces of this canal so important in Mass. & National history! I wish I were close enouph to attend some of your field trips. EWL

Fabulous site! As "webmaster" of the official website of the Middlesex Canal Association, I'll have to work very hard to come close to the high standard you've established at this site. I look forward to much collaboration in the future and to increased i
volvement from many people in the preservation and enhancement of the route of the Middlesex Canal.

Hello, I'm 37 years old, grew up in Somerville and have lived in Mass. all my life. I now work in Wilmington as an engineer and just recently discovered the Middlesex Canal... I'm not sure why it took me so long to discover it. As a youth, I played along
he Mystic Lakes many times never realizing what a tremendous engineering feat surrounded me. It truly is a hidden secret! I would like to hike it's course and am particularly interested in the exact locations of the toll stations, taverns, locks and hotel
which accomodated the route during the it's hay-day. My latest hobby is Treasure Hunting and I've been actively researching various potential sites for exploration. I would like to explore some of these sites, with permission where needed, and would glad
y donate any artifacts I discover to the Canal Historical Society. Any assistance you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated. Great job on the website. Regards, Victor

I'm a second generation land surveyor and "cousin" to Count Rumford and Samuel Thompson who surveyed the Canal originally and discovered the Thompson apple. Hoping to be part of the team selected for the next phase of the Restoration Project. Great web si
e, really enjoyed it.

In Memory of my brother who introduced me to the
canal in the 80's,
I hope someday somewhere along the canal they will
put as much effort into a walkway as they are in
Bedford and Lexington along Old Battle Roa

I enjoyed reading about your canal and share a similar interest in canals as i have spent a good share of time traveling the canals in England. I would be very interested in learning what kind of activites the Middlesex canal is currently used for and to
hare stories. Some of my own are recounted on my web page where a part of the ship's log for my father's narrow boat is recorded.

Great work. I like the interactive lock display. Hope we can report progress on restoration and preservation of canal as it progresses.
