Student officers are nominated through homeroom classes, and are given a chance to campaign, give speeches, and pass out flyers. Elections and run -offs are held. Students elect fifth graders to: President, Secretary, Treasury, Parliamentatian, and Historian. The Vice-President is a fourth grader. Two homeroom representatives are chosen from each 3rd-5th grade class.
Student Council meets every Thursday from 12:30 to 1:00. The members have two monthly goals: to do a service project for the school or community and to build school spirit. Student Council has been active in Homecoming, meeting with High School Student Council, morning announcements, the school store, paper drive, school contests for spirit motivators, and holiday celebrations. Members greet visitors and assist P.T.O. with fund raisers.
Members must be in the Eagle's Club, have passing grades, and be responsible and dependable. Student Council is a fun way to learn leadership.
