After you are confident in your new skills it is a good idea to review your preliminary design and make any adjustments necessary based on anything you discovered during your practice. Remember that your graphed sketch will serve as a "pattern" for your quilt during the construction phase so be sure that you have included any details that will be important to refer to. One thing I found very hand to have included in my sketch was a legend that indicated the number of each different type of block that I needed to complete. This helped to streamline the construction process.
