A Spiritual Bath

When I was fourteen I was playing in a neighbor's yard with some friends. The neighbor had an old mower that she had gassed up, and the grass in her side yard needed to be cut. I had never used a mower before, but I was up for the challenge! As I mowed the grass, dust blew everywhere. It was hot and dry, and I worked up quite a sweat.

When I got home, having earned $5.00 for my efforts, I knew I needed a bath. I soaked in the tub for awhile and the dirt came off. As I got out I felt "baby-fresh".

The Bible teaches that God puts us through a cleaning process of His own. In justification the guilt of sin is removed, and we receive forgivness of sins. (Ephesians 1:7) In sanctification the power of sin is removed, and we are cleansed from all unrighteousness. (I Thessalonians 5:23-24) The prophet Malachi said, "He is like a refiner's fire, and like launderers' soap. He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the Lord an offering of righteousness." (Malachi 3:2-3)

Have you ever felt like you needed a spiritual bath? Trust in Jesus and he'll get the job done.

God Bless you.
