Sharing Our Blessings

Most of us can recall a time when we were inspired by another person's account of how the Lord brought a blessing. I remember very clearly when an older woman from my church told me how the Lord healed her cancer. She had been told she had only a year or so to live, but miraculously she was healed. When I heard that at age 15 my confidence in God's power grew. I was blessed by hearing of her blessing.

The blessings we receive regularly in our lives many not be as spectacular as hers, but they are every bit as real. God touches our lives in some way or another each and every day, and when we are blessed, we are also commissioned to testify (or share) with others about our blessing, so that the ministry of the blessing will spread. This is why Jesus told the healed Gerasene demoniac to tell his people "what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you" (Mark 5:18-20).

The great temptation is to keep all our talk on worldly things, hiding the light of God (Matthew 5:14-16). Sometimes this is done out of respect to those who don't believe in God. But since we are witnesses to God's work (Luke 24:48), we are called to share out of our passion towards God.

Suppose you received ba pass from your boss to go to World's of Fun for a day instead of working. Wouldn't you get excited about this? Wouldn't you tell all your friends? And if they didn't believe you, would that change the reality of your blessing? You'd keep talking about it anyway, wouldn't you? How much greater is our need to testify about the work of God in our lives.

God Bless you.
