The Sri Andal Thiruppavai Mahotsava Sabha organizes an annual conference on THIRUPPAVAI every year in the Tamil month of THAI(usually during the last week of jan/ first week of feb) at Srivilliputtur.
The conference was started in 1992 and is organized by Sri Kalyanapuram Aravamudhan.It is usually of a 4 day duration and features discources on thiruppavai by eminent Scholars of Ubhaya Vedanta and music concerts by well known artistes.Every year scholars in Ubhaya Vedanta give discourses on the famous work of Andal-the Thiruppavai at the thiruthuzaay mandapam(Andal Sannidhi) in Srivilliputtur.Each Scholar gives a discourse on one pasuram of thiruppavai and thus one can listen to 30 discourses of the famous thiruppavai hymns by thirty different scholars every year.
The thiruppavai mahanadu thodakkam-Inaguration takes place at the ekadesi mandapam and is usually attended by many Pontiffs of various SriVaishnava mutts who bless the conference with their inagural speech.Interspersed with the thiruppavai discourses music concerts are held featuring well known carnatic musicians and artistes.On the final day there is a discourse on Nachiar Tirumozhi and also Andal Tirukkalyanam.The conference is very popular and attracts devotees from distant places such as Bangalore and Chennai.
