At this temple the perumal known as Vatapathrasayee is in
Bhujanga Sayanam. As one enters the temple compound ,one can see Sri periazhwar's
Nandavanam on the left. There is a beautiful Shrine for sri andal there.
further inside and towards the left there is the chakrattahazhwar shrine. As
one keeps going straight we come to the main temple.Towards the right
opposite to sri vatapatrasayi perumal sannidhi is sri periyazhwar sanniddhi
As we enter the Vatapatrasayi perumal sannidhi after comming out of the chakrathazwar sannidhi we first come across Sri lakshmi narasimhan. After offering our prayers as we turn towards the left and walk a few steps we encounter a flight of stairs and as we climb them and turn towards the right we approach the garbha graham of sri vatapatrasayi.Perumal sri vatapatrasayi under his Vimalakrithi vimanam is resting in his bhujanga sayanam. The Garbha graham has only one opening, thus we have to first turn our head slightly towards the left to have a glimpse of his thirumukha mandalam, which is resting on the bhujangam.as we turn towards the center we can have the darsanam of caturmukha brahma seated on the lotous arising out of the nabhi kamalam of the lord, slowly turning towards the right we can see the thayars sri devi and bhooma devi seated near the sacred feet of the lord.Devotees represented by Villi and kandan are standing with folded hands.as we look at the top we can see the devas offering their prayers to the lord.Another special feature of this divya desam is that the Pancha Ayudhams(five weapons) of the Lord are present here in their original divine forms
This temple rituals are performed according to the Vaigasana Aagamam. The daily poojas in the vatapatrasayi temple are as follows(aaru kala poojai)
