1. How are children selected
for Ashley River Creative Arts Elementary School?
Any children (grades k-5) living in District 10 are eligible to attend Ashley River Creative Arts Elementary School. If your child attends or is zoned for the following schools he/she is eligible to attend Ashley River: Springfield, Orange Grove, Oakland, Stono Park, Drayton Hall or St. Andrews. Students will be selected based on a lottery. Parents and Guardians may place their children on the waiting list no later than December 15 for the lottery which will take place near the middle of January (Do this they year prior to the child's entry into kindergarten). Each child will be assigned a number and numbers will be selected by lottery to fill the Kindergarten and First Grade openings. Drawings will continue for openings in grades 2-5. Drawings for a waiting list will also be made. |
3. Is there sibling priority
at Ashley River?
Younger brothers and sisters of enrolled students do have sibling priority, but parents still must fill out an application for these younger children. |
4. What happens if a student
moves during the school year?
If a move occurs during the summer or in the first half of the school year, the student must transfer to the district where the new residence is located. If a student moves in the second half of the school year the student may remain at Ashley River until the end of the school year. (Students in special education classes are exempt from the residency requirements of other students.) |
5. Where is the school located?
The school is located near the intersection of Hwy. 7 & Hwy. 61. It is at the end of Wallace School Rd. which is off Hwy. 61 and runs behind Westwood Plaza (Barnes & Noble, Office Depot, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls are located in the shopping center.) MapQuest.com |
