SUZUKI  STRINGS
   Deborah Menick, instructor

This information was updated on November 29, 2001

Students in K, 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade are eligible to begin Suzuki violincontinue through 5th grade.  Parental participation and attendance at the weekly master classes is required through the third grade.

A waiting list is now available for those who wish to secure a place in the following year's schedule.  Parents may call Mrs. Menick at the school and receive more information.  They are also encouraged to observe existing master classes which display the roles of the teacher, parent and child in the suzuki method of violin instruction.

Students in 4th or 5th grade may begin the traditional string method in violin, viola or cello.  This is the same method the other string teachers in the Charleston county School Sistrict teach, and therefore is referred to as CCSD Strings.  It does not require parental attendance

An orientation meeting for all new students and parents (both Suzuki and traditional) is usually held just before the first PTA meeting in the fall.  Information confirming the time of that meeting will be available at the classroom orientation meetings the week before school begins.
