KeyGolf
is Larry Shute and Carey Mumford. Unless you
are closely in touch with the educational and management
activity of the PGA, you may never have heard of them.
They haven't looked for publicity, so there haven't been
any magazine covers, infomercials, or flood of PR
articles featuring their very special skills.
But they are real and know their way around when it comes
to helping players develop their skills and habits for
playing.
Larry has taught for more than 40 years and played the
game even longer, winning his first pro championship in
1956 in Southern Ohio. He's a PGA Life member and Master
professional. Until retirement, he owned and operated
Bluffton Golf Course in Ohio, where he not only managed
the day-to-day operation, but taught many a player how to
improve playing ability. Players keep coming back when
they find him to be a strong, successful coach.
Carey has taught for 45 years, the last fifteen being
devoted to golf. His more recent work has been with the
National PGA educational program, and with the clinics he
has conducted on the mental game all over the US and in
Canada. In addition he has coached more than a hundred
Tour players, from the PGA, LPGA, Seniors, Nike, Coastal
Carolinas, Tommy Armour and Futures, not to mention
college teams, including Louisville, Vanderbilt, Eastern
Kentucky, West Point, and Miami.
He has written two books about golf's mental game, each
of which carries a theme that has not otherwise been
approached in golf literature. The first was "Golf's
Best Kept Secret," and the second, which is at the
core of KeyGolf, is The Double Connexion - How to
Get Your Game from the Practice Tee to the Golf Course. (Sorry, no
Mac version yet)
