pls. be patient with this page. due to the highly graphical content, it can be slow.

Devil's Island — Rising from the crystal waters of the Bermuda Triangle, this tortuously beautiful fantasy course is the most challenging and rewarding in the Links portfolio.

From the unforgiving tee shot skirting Bentwood Beach on hole number three to the signature fourteenth, an impossibly small island green lurking in the lagoon of lost score cards, these eighteen holes will reward the accurate golfer lavishly and force the rest to walk the plank!

Have you ever wished you could break par at Devil's Island? Well this could be your chance. I long wondered how to play Devil's Island strategically. I tried from being aggressive to playing safe and then one day, I decided to play it on practice mode hole per hole, took notes on clubbing and aims, then played it again and recorded the game.

I was amazed at how many birdie opportunities you can get. The trick is to get on the greens on regulation.  This may seem not easy but if you know where to place the ball, it is possible to make birdies on most of the holes. I'm not saying you can birdie the holes with this but at least you can attempt putts for birdies instead or pars. You still have to putt you know. I can emphasize the importance of the putter well enough on this course.  Putting makes the birdies and eagles so keep that metal hot!

Devil's Island has some shots towards the pin with the line obstructed by trees.  In your practice rounds, try hitting through the trees just like in hole no. 2 (see tip below).  More often than not, your shot surprisingly goes through.

I apologize if I wasnt able to toggle the record field on my game. It was supposed to be a fun round for me but my putter became hot and snap was on.  You can check on the scorecards below to get a picture of how my rounds with the recorded rounds of Jeff and Larry has been.

I decided to share my notes so everyone can enjoy Devil's Island. Terms I used are pretty simple. Default means go to shot set-up, click on default button (meaning no change in loft), 1 up or 1down means 1 click up or down on the loft on shot setup. I played the course on No wind, normal ,medium. I just dunno how I would score with wind hehe. If you hit it on the wild grass (like it did on some holes and yes, it is nasty from the wild grass) just keep in mind that from the wild grass, add approximately 60 yds to the distance for those above 130 yards and add about  yds if under 130yds. On wild grass close to the hole, i.e., chip shots, I hit it about 30 ft more so for a 30ft chip, it hit it on the 62'  marker.  The last thing you want on this course is a red hot putter.  You've got to make those birdie/eagle putts that you can have to lower your score!

So enough of this babble, and lets go on with it. Please note as well that pin placements may vary so adjust the clubbing accordingly. At least you know where you want it to go. Slope may vary as well.

Another thing, here are the clubs I have on my bag when I did this with LS98.
D,3W,7W,1I,3I,5I,6I,7I,8I,9I,PW,SW,LW,Putter
I haven't had a perfect round with LS99 yet but here are my clubs for LS99.
D,2W,3W,4W,6W,7W,5I,6I,7I,8I,9I,PW,LW,Putter

Hole 1 This tricky par 4 requires that you hit the tee high enough to clear the trees and strong enough to reach that shadowy part on the fairway. From there, a 6W would get you to the green for a birdie attempt. Hole 2 For this hole, patience is what you need. It is near impossible to score birdie as it looks like a par 5 made into a par4. So tee with a 6W as the second patch of the fairway has a great slope to the right and any Driver or 3W shot might roll to the wild grass. Since the next shot would be just across the wild grass, play it safe. 2nd shot will be about 170yds, so take 6I perfect for a 9I or PW to the green.
For those looking for a birdie, here's a dangerous tip. Tee with a 2W, clicked twice up. Try to land it where the yellow dot is on the pic. From there, hit it with a 7Wor 6W clicked all the way down, but hit it before the 12 o'clock. Normally this would take you on the green over the pin. Birdie opportunity!!! Or if you are more daring, after teeing off with the 3i, hit a 5W 2 clicks down right through the trees, YES RIGHT THROUGH THE TREES!!!,  unbelievable but hey,  this is Devil's Island.

Hole 3 This is a pretty simple hole. Tee with a 3W one click up, then an 8I oughta get you to the green. Just hit it a bit longer as the green above the hole is flat.

Hole 4 One of the easy holes, just select which club normally a 5I at default,  is best and go for the pin.
Hole 5 One of the longest Par-5's of the Links courses. Patience is again required. remember, we dont play for eagles here. Just add 1 or 2 clicks up to your 3W on the 2nd shot. Hole 6 Tee with a 3W, and 7I from there.
Hole 7 Tee with driver and 3W for 2nd shot. Hole 8 Tee with 3W 1 click up on loft, hit it about one dot over 12 o'clock.
Hole 9 Tricky one this hole, aim bettween the tracer and the orange boulder on the right, click 1 up loft on a 2W and hit it over 12 o'clock. Perfect for a 5I shot.

For LS2000, the 3W would work perfectly fine here instead of the 2Wjust hit it at default.

Hole 10 This could be the easiest hole, a simple and short par-5 reachable in 2. Hit with a Driver off the Tee, then a 3W or 2W  towards green.
Hole 11 Much like hole 10, only this is a par 4. Hole 12 Another tricky tee shot. Aim at fairway left of the bunker (right of the tracer), 2W default or 1 click up , set up for a 30-40yd wedge shot.
Hole 13 Driver 1 up on loft, then 3w hit over 12 o'clock to the green. Hole 14 Play safe on this one, hit right fairway for a 25-30yd pitch to the green. If you want to try it, a 6W default, hit at least a little over 12 o'clock would give you a very good birdie chance but less than that would bounce you back  to the sea.
Hole 15 Aim where the tracer passed hit with 2W, 1 click up setting you for a 1I (2click up) shot. Hole 16 This par 3 is quite tricky as you need to take more club because it will land on the fringe then roll to the green. 6W  1 click up will do here.
Hole 17 The fairway left of the dotted white line slopes downward sharply away from the hole. It would be very very difficult to get to the green from there. So hit the tee shot Driver default, fade aim on the intersection of that white line and the wild grass (see the marker?) but dont hit too strong, it might fade too much to the wild grass. 7w from there to the green. Hole 18 I used the backdoor on this one, 3I or 1I teeshot then a 8I or 7I to the next fairway then a 5I from there to the green. Dont worry, the 5I has enough loft to clear the coconut trees.

You can reach the green in two as well here but it takes a lot of snap to do it. Tee with a 2W 3 clicks up and another 4 or 3W to the green.

You can try to use other clubs with the tips above. Just play with the loft.
So there you have it, my own tips on how to break par at devils island.
Remember, its still how u hit the snap. Good luck and have fun.
