President's Message Gentlemen,
It seems only weeks have passed since the Premier Golf took over, but it has been a full year. I must admit, I did not think the change would be a positive one, but have been pleasantly surprised. The City of Bellevue and Premier Golf have made many improvements and have actually cut the price of playing golf for those who joined and played with some frequency (which is the way it should be). Please remember that as of April 1 , your points total will go back to zero. Your frequency of golf in '2008' will get you the discounts you have enjoyed over the last year. We have a full slate of tournaments for '2008' and I hope you will play in all of them. Pace of play continues to be a concern for the Men's Club and the golf course. Please encourage those you are golfing with to keep pace with the group in front of you and we will eliminate this concern. The City of Bellevue is continuing to improve the course. They are currently building an additional tee box on hole #4 and are anticipating the start of a new one on hole #6 in the coming months. In addition, they are doing the initial preparation to enhance the driving range. This project is probably out about a year or so, but will create more hitting stations and a greatly improved facility. I will keep you abreast of any other information we receive on the improvements as it becomes available.
Please sign UP for tournaments 2 weeks Prior to the event PAY AT TIME OF SIGN-UP / PREFERABLY BY CHECK Another item that merits comment is tournament sign-ups. The course, by city mandate, began giving tee-times to the general public two (2) weeks in advance which means they have to make a decision that far out as to how many unfilled times must be given back to the course by the men's club. When they do that, it directly affects how many players are able to compete in our tournaments. The only way we can be guaranteed those starting times is by having our members sign up earlier for the tournaments each month. Please remember that we do not cash the checks until after the event. So, you can sign up and if you must withdraw (you can do so until the Wednesday prior to the event) and we will refund your money or destroy the check with which you paid for the event. Please take the opportunity to say thank you to the members of the board. They put a lot of time and work into trying to give our membership a variety of formats as they try to make golf at this club enjoyable for you. Thank you for your cooperation and I hope you will all play frequently and play well. Brian P. Catlin, Club President
BELLEVUE MEN'S CLUB
Welcome to the Bellevue Golf Course Men's Club. We have some requirements for participating in our tournaments that are different from our requirements in the past and we feel you must know them prior to joining our Men's Club.
In order to participate in our tournaments, you must have ten (10) scores recorded and returned by GHIN to establish a handicap trend or you will have to play to a zero handicap until that is achieved.
When playing in a Two-Man scramble, the maximum difference in handicap will be 10 strokes (i.e. if you are a 10 and your partner is 25, he must play to a 20). We will also require a certain number of drives by each participant. Handicap for two-man scrambles will be established by taking the two handicaps and dividing by 4.
In four-man events we will require a certain number of drives each participant must use during the round. In our four-man scramble tournaments we will take the total handicap and divide by eight to establish the team handicap.
We will continue to play tournaments by division and we will pay approximately one-third of the field. In most cases, if you play to your handicap you will win money.
We welcome you to the Bellevue Men's Club and hope you will participate in our tournaments.
